Wang's Pov.
Spending the day with Zhan was amazing. His sweet and innocent demeanor enthralled me from the first moment we met. Every moment spent with him felt like a precious gift that I cherished deeply. I felt an overwhelming desire to protect him with my life. He became the most meaningful person in my world.
Something unexpected happened. When I saw Zhan's mother's necklace, I was shocked. It couldn't be true. I met her 18 years ago, and she was a vibrant and carefree young girl at the time. She was a hybrid, but she wasn't aware of her hybrid nature.
She laughed, and I thought she was flirting with me, but she told me she had someone she was in love with and just liked me.
"Here, keep it safe," she said to me as she gave me her necklace with a small key pendant. "The other half is with my lover. I will pick it up when I'm ready." She laughed and left.
I mind-linked Liu and told him about my experience with Zhan's mother. He said I shouldn't tell Zhan right away, but I should show him the one with me first. His own had a heart pendant with runes on it.
I remember Liu telling me that a man had come looking for me, specifically inquiring about his wife's necklace. If this man happens to be Zhan's father, it raises the question of why he hasn't tried to locate his son. Leaving him to suffer at his uncle's house. It's puzzling that Zhan's father doesn't care about his son's well-being or does not know about Zhan.
While I enjoyed the barbecue, I couldn't help but think of Zhan's father. It was strange to me that he was so concerned about his wife's necklace but not about his son's whereabouts.
As I lay awake all night with Zhan's small body curled up against me, I pondered his father's mystery.
I felt a desperate urge to take Zhan away from the city, far away from the troubles he faced here. I hoped I could make a better life for him. But I also had a nagging feeling about Wu. I felt Meng's grandmother hexed him. Witches are quick to hex when someone hurts their own, and I knew from experience that they could be quite powerful.
The gruesome sight confirmed my fears. Wu was hexed, and there would be consequences.
Meng, who was always sensitive to the emotions of others, was devastated. I felt helpless, not knowing how to comfort her. Liu, on the other hand, had a natural ability to console people in times of distress. I turned to him, hoping he could bring some solace to Meng's shattered spirit. And true to form, Liu didn't disappoint me. He embraced Meng, offering her words of comfort that only he could provide.
"We need to leave," Yu Bin interjected with urgency. It was clear that staying at this place was no longer an option.
Jackson and Liu, ever loyal and resourceful, offered to gather our belongings. They understood the gravity of the situation.
As they retrieved our things, I took Zhan outside. He trembled, clearly shaken by what had happened. Meng followed us.
Meanwhile, Yu Bin gathered her belongings.
"Meng, we need to find Urza," I said earnestly, emphasizing the importance of our mission.
"Who is Urza?" Zhan inquired. The mysterious name piqued his interest.
"Urza is your dad," I revealed, delivering the truth with a mix of apprehension and certainty. The weight of this revelation weighed heavily on the atmosphere as Zhan's eyes filled with horror upon comprehending the implications.
"I don't want that man anywhere near me," Zhan hissed, his voice dripping with repulsion. The mere thought of Urza's presence seemed to evoke a strong negative reaction within him. Swiftly, he made his way to the car, seeking refuge from the turmoil that had unfolded.
Meng softly whispered to Zhan, "I know this isn't easy for you to process, but it's critical to find Urza. I understand if you don't want to see him; your dad is out there, and we need to find him for your safety." With that, Meng walked to her car, leaving Zhan to contemplate his newfound knowledge.
