Chapter 19 - 019. After Party

At Alpha Zephyr's Quarter

Queen Anara stormed into the palace of her husband's quarter, her expression dark with anger. Pacing back and forth like a pendulum.

Alpha Zephyr looked up from his throne, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips having watched Queen Anara for a while.

"Why are you raging?" His voice dripping with amusement, caught her suddenly.

Queen Anara shuddered. She was too carried away, not noticing her mate's presence. "Forgive my manner, I don't know you will here."

"Yes, I am here." Alpha Zephyr replied, sounding like he was recollecting the reason he excused himself from the party, "What has brought you here in such a state?"

Recounting the confrontation with Elara, Queen Anara's eyes flashed with fury. "That kid dared to challenge me with her words, she is so arrogant!" she spat, her voice laced with venom. "She looked me in the eyes and held her head up to me when I was talking to her. How can she not have a pinch of fear?"

Alpha Zephyr's smirk widened into a sinister grin as he listened to Queen Anara's tale

"You mean, Laia? Don't tell me you started hating her."

"I couldn't have if she looks like a puppet who can easily be tamed." Queen Anara replied, still fuming like an erupting volcano.

A villainous smile formed on Alpha Vesper's face seemingly like he enjoyed his Queen's heartbroken tale. "So what does she look like to you?"

"Gosh! Zeph! You saw it all!" She grunted, more infuriated as her husband seemed not to be worried at all. "Are you ready to give up your throne now? I've been worshipped by this Kingdom for a hundred years. How can I let go of my position to that girl?"

"What are you planning to do? My brother is blindly in love with her even before they met." Alpha Zephyr replied, still seeming unbothered.

Queen Anara's anger simmered beneath the surface. She did not like that her husband was toying with her emotions when he knew what she needed. "She provoked me! She was too insolent towards me and I feel like strangling her alive." She paused, demonstrating with her hand how she wished to strangle Elara.

"That's what I want to do to her! To let her know her place." She grunted, her voice dripping with malice.

"If I did not handle her now, she would soon question my authority and even want me to worship her! I cannot tolerate that!" She shook her head vigorously to reject such disrespect towards her.

Alpha Zephyr relaxed on the throne, his face cold as he stroked his chin thoughtfully. "It is an ordained rule that I must hand over his right to him once he finds his Luna since an Alpha cannot lead the pack without having a sacred bond to his mate."

Queen Anara's anger subsided as she remembered the oath she made during her induction as the Queen a century ago, "I can't be dethroned neither you, my King!"

Alpha Zephyr's face darkened as he read through her mate's intent on Elara. Queen Anara smiled, having her eyes interlocked with her husband to make him read through her mind since he possessed the ability to read other's thoughts through eye contact.

"You know my intent now, My King." Queen Anara's lips curled into a malicious smile as Alpha Zephyr nodded.

The rushing sounds of footsteps outside the Palace's entrance interrupted them, they stayed quiet trying to decipher what was happening.

The sound vanished at Alpha Zephyr's entrance and then, their voices raised terrifically, "Your Majesty, Our Luna suddenly passed out!"

The news took a ton of surprise on Queen Anara's face that she flung the door open, "I just left the Party, how did it happen?!"

****

At Alpha Harlan's Quarter.

The three Alphas gathered anxiously as Elara lay unconscious before them, her face pale and sicky. Kael, the most trusted advisor and physician, knelt beside her, his brow furrowed with concern as he examined her pulse.

"What is wrong with her, Doctor?" Alpha Harlan asked, his voice tight with worry.

Kael shook his head solemnly. "Her pulse is weak, and her breathing shallow," he explained in a grave tone. "She has been under a great deal of stress lately and it seems to have taken a toll on her health."

Alpha Harlan and Vesper exchanged worried glances. Alpha Zephyr glanced straight at them but both brothers hawked their brows at him.

"Is there anything you are hiding about her?" Zephyr asked, seemingly because they whipped their gaze away.

"How the heck does that concern you, Zeph?!" Alpha Harlan crocked at him.

Zephyr shrugged, "So I can help."

Shunning off Alpha Zephyr, Vesper asked Kael, "What can we do to help her?" his voice tinged with desperation.

The physician sighed heavily, his expression grave. "For now, she needs rest and plenty of it," he replied, his tone serious. "I will do everything in my power to treat her but she must be allowed to recover in peace."

They all nodded in understanding. Alpha Harlan excused himself to the balcony, sitting at the hammock chair, his gaze showered on Elara just as the moonlight showered on him.

"You could read others past, Harl. Didn't you see the extent of stress she had undergone lately?" Alpha Vesper asked, knowing that since Harlan could see 7 days into anyone's past life from simple body contact, he could have seen what Elara had passed through and even her first contact with him in her father's room.

Alpha Harland adverted at him, his eyes darkened and grave, "You dare say that... huh? Don't you dare mumble rubbish when you could see into her future?! How dare you question me about her past life when you saw she would faint?" He was grieved that Vesper knew that would happen to her since he could see 7 days into others' future at a body contact. Despite this ability, he didn't do anything to help Elara.

"I could only foresee, I can't change her fate though... What a pity!" Alpha Vesper replied simply like he didn't have a pinch concern for Elara, "But at least, I tried, I was around her when she fainted. Not like someone who did see how much stress she had undergone yet left her side."

Alpha Harlan felt slapped. As he was about to utter profanity to him, Alpha Zephyr cleared his throat and joined them, "Hun...hun! I think Kael said we should let her sleep peacefully."

"What are the brothers murmuring about excluding me?"
