Words: Twin
Within the universe created by countless gods, there exists a system embedded in the laws of nature. When the physical body of a soul has perished, the wandering souls undergo a process of recycling, which flushes out any attachment to the world. In turn, recycled souls inhabit different physical bodies. This is called the cycle of reincarnation.
The cycle of reincarnation, however, is not only connected to one world but multiple worlds. It allows the souls to be reincarnated to another world or to the same world.
In the world of curiosity called Terarus, a widow gave birth to two lovely daughters. Felicia was an exuberant child wearing a gleeful expression despite the circumstances. While Lisa was a rebellious, carefree child who gets involved in various troubles with the kids in the slums. The two had something special. It was a blessing by the gods which allowed the two to communicate by telepathy. Because of this, they have done harmless antics in the household.
The family struggled, barely surviving the end of each day by relying on the church who distributes goods to the unfortunate. However, one night when Lisa took the wrong path, she ran out of luck. Next morning, Felicia yelled at her mother, worried for her sister. She said that she cannot feel the connection between Lisa through Telepathy. At this point, Felicia was drowned in despair.
Decades have passed. Abandoned by the church, the people of the slums were responsible for putting food to their stomachs. Felicia has yet to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of her sister Lisa. The once gleeful child wore a cold expression, driven by the duty of finding the balance between finding closure and working for the survival of the family.
"Felicia," a voice brightened the world of darkness of Felicia.
"Lisa!" she yelled, weeping in tears as soon as she shouted those words. "Mother and I were so worried. Where are you?"
"Thank god my blessing remained intact." Lisa sighed in relief. "I'll explain what happened."
"I'm listening."
"During the night I went astray, I stumbled upon a group of people gathered to recite a lengthy incantation of magic. When they finished, a strange circle, draped in darkness, manifested inside the magic circle. Some cheered in joy, others noticed something was not right. Can you guess what happened next?"
"They saw you and s-silenced you?"
"That would have been better to be honest," Lisa chuckled. "Anyway, the circle started to pull everything inside itself. The cloaked group of people was already sucked inside, leaving only me."
"Then, you were able to escape!"
"Like I said, I wished that happened. I tried running away from it. But a strong force pulled my feet towards the circle, sucking inside the void."
"Were you alright?"
"Opposite of that. My body melted."
"Then how---"
"Hold your horses, dear sister." Lisa interrupted. "I was about to explain how I was able to talk to you through telepathy again. Are you ready to listen?"
"...yes," Felicia said timidly, somehow disappointed by her hastiness of pressing answers.
"Listen carefully. It may sound ridiculous but hear me out," after a slight pause, she said, "I died and reincarnated to a world called Agharia. I go by the name Matsushita Kohaku in this world. My name means amber, interesting right?"
"You reincarnated to a different world… unbelievable."
"At least we are able to talk with each other again, right?"
"You're too carefree, sister."
Lisa chuckled, deafening Felicia.
"I forgot to mention there's more. Apparently, the people who manifested the circle were attempting to create a gateway to the world of Agharia. A lot of people of Agharia who reincarnated to Terarus wanted to return home. The one they manifested was a failure, creating a black hole instead of a gateway."
"Black hole?"
"Nevermind that. The reason why I contacted you was not for a family reunion but to ask a favor."
"Anything for my sister."
"I didn't know you were such a siscon," Lisa giggled. "Can you join the group of Reincarnators and help them create the gateway? I want to go home, Felicia."
