Chapter 1 - Prologue

A dragon with sparkling white scales and sea-blue eyes soared towards a tall wall of snow. Glancing behind, it saw a dragon following closely. Desperate to lose its pursuer, the dragon dove towards the ground, then soared upwards at the last moment to glide over the snowy wall. Heading towards a small snowy cave, the dragon landed in front of the entrance, cautiously looking around to ensure it wasn't followed. Seeing that the coast was clear, it charged forward, only to be knocked back against a wall and fall down. After getting back up, it discovered no snow inside the cave, just a marble floor.

Beside the dragon was a torch holder, which it pulled down, causing the cave entrance to close and the cave to expand. A doorway opened behind the dragon, and it walked through it, the doorway closing shut behind it.

Continuing on, the dragon came across a statue resembling an IceWing.

"When do we start?" the dragon whispered to itself.

Suddenly, a loud booming voice replied, "You will start by obtaining the blue fire."

Startled, the dragon jumped up. "Master?" it called out.

"Yes, it is I," the voice replied.

"I am the statue behind you, my subject," the voice added.

"Why are you a statue, Master?" the dragon asked.

"I thought you were dead!"

"I am frozen in ice, my subject. But I need your help to free me from this curse," the voice said.

"If you do, I'll make you my loyal commander."

The dragon promised to free its Master and be a loyal subject forever. However, the voice grew quieter and quieter until it was silent. The dragon waited for an answer, but none came.

Suddenly, it remembered its mission to find the blue fire. Racing out of the room, the dragon pulled the torch holder, and flew out of the cave, thinking determinedly, "I have to save my Master."
