A dragon with shiny white and ocean blue scales, icy blue horns, and purple talons was skating slowly on some ice. The dragon locked its eyes on a seal and prepared to jump it. "Glacier!" a childish voice said happily. The seal hopped away.
"Arrrg, Iceberg you made me miss our lunch!" Glacier said with a huff.
"But I want you to know tha..." Iceberg was about to say.
"You know I can't feed you or mother if you keep interrupting me from hunting!" Glacier said angrily.
"But the queen wants to see you…" Iceberg said quietly sounding like he was about to cry. Glacier raced to Iceberg to comfort him.
"Sorry that I yelled at you, Iceberg. I was just angry. You know how hard it's been since mother got sick and father left us." Glacier said while she wrapped her wings around Iceberg.
"I know that it's been hard for you, Glacier. You do all the work while I just play. I'm sorry for interrupting your hunting." Iceberg said as if it was his fault.
"It's okay I accept your apology," Glacier said while hugging Iceberg. Glacier....Glacier looked from side to side to see who was saying her name.
"Did you hear that Iceberg?" Glacier said to Iceberg.
"Hear what Glacier?" Iceberg said questioningly.
"Nothing I guess," Glacier said.
"Glacier?" Iceberg said.
"Yes," said Glacier.
"Don't you have to go to the queen?" Iceberg reminded Glacier.
"Oh yeah," said Glacier hurriedly.
Glacier quickly flew to the palace. She landed at the entrance and walked to the gates where some guards were.
"State your business." the first guard said.
"Icy don't you see. She's SUPPOSED to be here. The queen called for her, you dumb icicle." the second guard said.
"Then you can go in, DON'T YOU DARE HURT THE QUEEN, " the first guard said. The guards opened the gates and Glacier walked in. The gates then closed behind Glacier. The inside of the palace was dark and scary, but Glacier had been there before, so there was nothing to fear. "I see that you could make it," a soft, gentle voice said. Glacier recognized the voice; it was the Queen.
"Yes, your Highness," Glacier said as she bowed towards the Queen's voice.
"No need to bow, my child," The Queen said. Glacier got up and stared into the darkness.
"Why did you call me Queen? It's not like I don't want your company but it's just a question," Glacier said, curious.
"I called you because I have bad news and good news that I needed to tell you," the Queen said in a sad voice.
"First, I need to talk to my guards about something and then I'll talk with you," the Queen said angrily but still sweetly.
The Queen walked to the gate and opened it a little, so she could poke her snout out and yelled at the guards, "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU ICICLE HEADS TO BRING ME ICEBERG." The guards quickly flew off to get what the Queen yelled. "Now we have to wait till your brother is here so he can hear the news as well," the Queen said. Glacier and the Queen were waiting until they heard a knock at the gate. The gate opened and someone said, "Your Highness, we have the subject you wanted."
"Come in Iceberg," the Queen said. Iceberg walked in with his head down.
"I'll do the good news first then the bad news," the Queen said. Both Glacier and Iceberg nodded their heads and said yes.
"So the good news is you both are going to Jade Mountain Academy and be in the same Winglet," the Queen started.
"Wow… I don't know what to say, " said Glacier while she hugged Iceberg, preparing for the bad news.
"I know that you are both excited but the bad news is...your mother died," the Queen said sadly.
"No, not mommy…." Iceberg said, burrowing his face into Glacier's wings.
"It's going to be okay Iceberg," said Glacier while wrapping her wings around Iceberg to comfort him.
"I've decided to be your mother," the Queen said sweetly and sadly.
"Iceberg and I must grieve, " said Glacier sadly.
"I'm afraid that won't happen, the school wants you and Iceberg to be there in the next couple of days. And I have already agreed to this," the Queen said in a sad but honest voice.
"Iceberg and I will gather our belongings and are Iceberg and I now a princess and a prince?" said Glacier in a sad but questioning tone.
"Yes, you are now my children. I'll give you presents in the morning. Now go to sleep, you'll pack up in the morning!" The Queen said sadly. Glacier and Iceberg went to bed together in the royal bedroom. Iceberg fell fast asleep while Glacier looked out the window and saw her new mother yelling at the guards. "GUARDS, YOU NEED TO GET ME FIVE MORE GUARDS SO I CAN TELL THEM WHAT TO DO. TELL THOSE FIVE GUARDS TO MEET ME INSIDE OF THE PALACE!" the Queen said angrily. Five guards rushed over to the palace. Glacier could not hear what her new mother was saying, so Glacier curled up next to Iceberg and slept soundlessly.
