Mordeu sniffled, and so did Fjall. The silence between the two brothers was loud and successfully sucked the spectators into the wormhole of its awkwardness. They all stared at the unreadable expressions on both brothers' faces, waiting for who knows what and not knowing exactly what to expect.
Cillian, for one, only glanced at Mordeu. He knew that at the moment, Mordeu's attention was fixated on Fjall, and he might not realize that Cillian was staring at him. He knew Mordeu well enough to understand that Fjall's words had actually done something to him. If only Fjall knew the reason Mordeu was as amazing as he described, if only he knew that Mordeu hated this reality. The powers, the good looks, and the abilities were not things that could shroud Mordeu's eyes from the painful, inevitable future that would dawn on him in a matter of years or even less.
