Freya's lips stretched into a smile, staring at Mordeu as if he was her happiness. She intertwined their fingers before bringing her eyes to the others and seeing the look on their faces, especially Alana's.
Alana's expression was unreadable. When Freya took the ball from Mordeu, she held her breath, praying and hoping that whatever Freya was about to talk about wouldn't confirm her suspicions. She thought Freya was going to confess something about her life, tell them of the atrocities that Clarion had put her through, tell them how broken she had been and how cruel her mother was.
However, after hearing what Freya had to say, it did not, in any way, prove her innocence. Alana suddenly felt distraught. It was eye-opening to learn this side of her. She loved to hear whatever Freya had to say, she loved the confessions. However, it did nothing to dispel the suspicion she felt. It did nothing to make her believe that Freya was innocent.
