"Yeah…I heard you telling that to my dad,well…I guess you guys are leaving huh?" She said hurt.
"They are leaving not me".
"I…don't understand…, they're leaving without you? He held her hands tighter and gave her a sad nod. They're getting a divorce?" She asked with shock.
"Huhmm" he sighed .
"And you ain't going with either of them?"
"I can stay on my own, he boasted. You know one thing people fear the most?"
"They're many things people fear Jerry" she smiled at him.
"It's being alone,and I've being on my own since I can remember, I can stay on my own " he gave her a reassuring smile.
"You ain't alone Jerry,you've got us okay? We are always gonna be here for you she held him firmly. You can come live with us huh, we have an extra room you can stay there for as long as you like, my parents will allow,they like you so…much" she giggled.
"Hey Puppy ,I really do appreciate you kind gesture but…you know that I hate being a burden on others right? I will be fine dear, your dad actually offered the same thing but…I will just stay at our house ".
"I know you won't wanna go with your dad but…you could go with your mom,why does she even want to leave the house?"
"My mom is getting married soon I guess he blurted. So it wouldn't be great to go with her, I want her to have the kind of life she's always dreamt of,the one with a man she loves and so… much more, not with a man like my dad". He narrowed his eyes.
"Hmm,Jeremy I know your dad isn't much of a great guy but… don't you think it would be too early if she decides to remarry immediately after the divorce?"
"I don't know….I just want the best for her" he said with a blank stare.
"You would be alright " she squeezed his hands.
