Chapter 14 - STARS ALIGNED

As Xin Yue teetered between wakefulness and dreams, she reached out for the comforting presence beside her, only to be met with a chilling emptiness that jolted her back to reality—the stark reminder of Chang Yi's absence once again.

With a sense of urgency, Xin Yue sprung from her bed, her heart pounding in her chest as she frantically searched her penthouse for any sign of Chang Yi. A flood of relief washed over her when she heard the faint sounds emanating from the kitchen, signaling Chang Yi's presence.

As Xin Yue entered the kitchen, her gaze fell upon Chang Yi, clad in an oversized white shirt that draped over her form, hinting at the allure of her bare skin underneath. Watching Chang Yi move about the kitchen, preparing tea with a serene grace, Xin Yue couldn't help but feel a flutter of anticipation mingled with desire.

She quickly enveloped Chang Yi in a tight embrace, her voice muffled against Chang Yi's chest. "Yi Er... I thought you'd left me again," she murmured softly.

With a tender yet firm grip, Chang Yi held Xin Yue close, her heart overflowing with affection. "I'm not going anywhere, Yue Er. It's different now, isn't it?" She pressed a gentle kiss to Xin Yue's temple, her hand soothingly stroking her back.

In the embrace of their shared intimacy, Xin Yue seized the moment, her voice a tender whisper. "You're mine, Yi Er. Promise you won't leave," she pleaded softly.

Chang Yi's response was immediate, her commitment unwavering as she nestled closer, inhaling Xin Yue's scent, etching it into her memory. "Yes, my dear. I'm forever yours," she affirmed, her breath warm against Xin Yue's neck. In that fleeting moment, enveloped in each other's arms, they found solace in the preciousness of their bond, grateful for the love they held.

"It's not easy for me to open my heart to anyone, Yi Er. Please don't break it easily," Xin Yue expressed, her tone tinged with vulnerability.

Chang Yi gently cupped Xin Yue's face in her hands, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. "I won't, my sweet Yue Er. It's been so long since I've opened my heart to anyone, love, and you... you've stolen it with your sweetness, independence, and radiance," she confessed, her voice filled with sincerity. "Every time I see you, my heart flutters, and being away from you is a struggle."

Xin Yue chuckled softly at Chang Yi's words, but her expression turned serious. "Is this what it feels like to love someone? Your heart aches in the sweetest way?" she questioned, her eyes reflecting her uncertainty. "I've never felt this way with anyone, Yi Er, and I'm afraid."

"You've been my world for months now," Chang Yi began, her gaze unwavering as she spoke. "I want to know you better, to be closer to you than anyone else has ever been before. I want to wipe away your worries, be someone you can rely on, someone to heal your wounds, and to write our future together."

She paused, her expression softening as she continued, "But this road we're taking, I can't promise it'll be easy. Hell, no, my love, it'll be a bumpy road. There may be tough choices ahead of us, challenges we never expected. I can't promise you there'll only be rainbows from now on. But I can promise you this – even in the hardest times, in the coldest nights, I am forever yours, as long as you want me."

Hearing Chang Yi's heartfelt words, Xin Yue felt an unexplainable pain in her chest, a reminder of the hardships she had endured in love before. Chang Yi's words were painful yet realistic, and strangely beautiful in their honesty.

"Who hurt you, Yi er?" Anger began to build up in Xin Yue's stomach, yet she couldn't find the courage to ask Chang Yi directly. Instead, she looked into Chang Yi's eyes and said, "We'll face it together, I promise."

With her heart overflowing with love, Chang Yi cheerfully took Xin Yue's hand and guided her to a chair. "Now you need something to eat, young lady. Today is your big day, and it would be perfect if you faced it with a full stomach."

Xin Yue obediently sat down, but she couldn't resist pulling Chang Yi close and kissing her passionately. "You know, eat you also kind of helps me do my presentation better," she giggled like a teenager, reveling in the few moments of passion they shared.

As Chang Yi wrestled with the fiery passions burning inside her, she managed to regain her composure and gently reminded Xin Yue, "Come on, you'll be late, Yue er."

Amused by the effect she had on Chang Yi, Xin Yue playfully made a funny face as she reached for apple in the pantry. "Alright, boss," she replied with a grin, feeling a rush of excitement for the day ahead.

After a quick breakfast, they prepared themselves to head down to the office, but they were taken aback when the elevator doors opened to reveal Xin Lang standing in front of them.

"Oh, you girls are early today?" Xin Lang remarked, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

Xin Yue, feeling a bit flustered, stuttered out a response, "Yes, you told me to bring Chang Yi, so I asked her to come as early as possible to brief her." After a brief pause, she added, "So, what happened with Mei Lie? Is she sick?"

Xin Lang nodded, his expression sympathetic. "Yes, it seems she ate something wrong at dinner last night and has a bad stomach today. We don't want anyone rushing to the bathroom and beyond during the presentation, right?" he explained. Then, he turned to Chang Yi with a reassuring smile. "I'm sorry to bring you in so hastily like this, Chang Yi, but I believe you can handle my sister for a few months. I trust you're capable for the presentation," he said, giving her a wink.

Impressed by Chang Yi's beauty, Xin Lang couldn't help but admire her. Despite rarely seeing her, he was struck by her elegance and poise.

Noticing her brother's teasing and subtle attraction to Chang Yi, Xin Yue stuck her tongue out at him playfully and grabbed Chang Yi's hand, pulling her out of the elevator. Chang Yi simply nodded politely to Xin Lang before following Xin Yue to her office, her mind buzzing with anticipation for the presentation ahead.
