Chapter 52: A baby for sale
Aubrey's face was a tempest of anger, the storm brewing within her more intense with each step she took. Her rage grew as Enzo continued to gush over Kenneth, his attention diverted from her as he stared up at her, his eyes filled with eager expectation.
"Isn't that baby so cute?" he cooed, a smile lingering on his lips.
Enzo's enthusiastic musings about the resemblance between him and the child only served to intensify Aubrey's inner turmoil. As he continued to marvel at the supposed likeness, her face contorted into a forced smile, her lips pressed together in a thin, rigid line.
"Yes, he is very cute," she muttered, her patience wearing thin.
Enzo's smile widened as he persisted, "I bet he looks like me. The resemblance is striking. How could a child who isn't related to me by blood look so much like me?
