Chapter 36: The risk
The forest was dark and foreboding, the trees towering above like sentinels watching over the land. The leaves rustled in the wind, creating a ghostly whisper that filled the air. The three people walking through the forest looked around nervously, their hearts pounding in their chests. The darkness seemed to swallow them up, and they could feel the fear radiating off of each other.
"How can you be sure we won't be attacked by some wild animal?" Aubrey asked, her voice trembling with fear. "Is this really worth the risk?"
Lucky turned to her, his face twisted with anger. "Can you stop complaining already? You've been at it for hours and it's getting on my nerves!" he snapped. He knew they were taking a risk, but they had no other choice.
