Elynora paled. She didn't know much about the regretful past of the protagonist before he regressed to the past again. Even though she was the author; she had only described it in two lines.
'Calor was not good to Arabella and had a lot of women in his unofficial harem.'
And that was what she had said to a fan! It wasn't even in the official story!
Elynora shed tears internally.
Now, looking at the situation, it seemed she was one of the many women that the male protagonist strung along in the past with his ambiguous words. Ah, her heart hurt. Why did she transmigrate? She should have been content with her life back on earth.
A transparent red panel appeared in front of her again.
[ALERT! The relationship between the protagonists is deteriorating! Main Quest Progress: -30%]
'Nah man, why the heck is the progress negative?'
Nora came back to her senses at this. It seems the argument she had ignored as unimportant was the reason the progress went negatively.
"You spent two days with her and now you are begging me to throw away my pride and my family's treasure for her life. Calor Draken," A beautiful voice dripping with anger sounded sorrowfully in front of her.
"Bella, Nora is a precious existence to me. I can't possibly give up on her no matter what-"
A sharp slap to the male lead's cheek sounded, cutting off his words immediately.
It wasn't the female lead Arabella who slapped him, though.
Two pairs of eyes looked at Elynora with wide eyes.
Yes, it was Nora who slapped him.
"Nora, you are awake?" Calor asked in a broken voice, the ice in his voice melting in an instant.
Nora's anger shot through the roof at the innocent question and wanted to slap him again. That wasn't important now!
"What kind of ambiguous words are you saying about another woman right in front of your fiance, Calor?" Nora yelled at him angrily.
She raised her head to look at her new cousin sister and female lead, Arabella.
Arabella was looking at her with tears that threatened to spill out of her blue eyes at any moment. But she didn't shed any and straightened her back when Elynora looked at her, as if she would not back down.
A quick glance revealed her elegance and grace, as she stood poised like an ethereal goddess with her blonde hair flowing down her back.
And Nora knew exactly what was going through the mind of this goddess. She was definitely planning to break up with this blockhead of a male lead.
She smacked Calor on the shoulder and got off of him. Calor refused to let go at first, but soon gave up.
"But you are not any woman Nora, you are like my sister." Calor said pitifully.
"Clarify that first! What would my sister think if you talk like that? Who taught you to speak like that to any woman, huh? Did I ever teach you that? How much has my sister suffered?" She smacked him on the shoulder again for good measure.
She winced in pain after. It seemed that the numbed pain from her wounds was coming back to her steadily, and it also seemed she could only not feel pain because Calor did something. But she didn't dare move closer to him again. There were more important things to handle.
The first step to handling Arabella's anger was to step away from the male lead and scold him it seemed, her eyes looking at Elynora's actions widened in surprise. But she soon calmed down, as if watching a new play. Nora sighed. She knew that it wouldn't be that easy to appease Arabella.
Arabella was a character that she herself wrote, so she knew her best after all. But right now, the most important thing was saving herself without damaging the relationship between the protagonists.
"Arabella, I shouldn't die." She said grimly. Arabella looked at her as she said this, not giving away anything on her face. She raised her chin, gesturing to her to continue.
And so Nora continued with a sniffle, making herself look more pitiful.
"The demon targeted me for a reason. We don't know why, but it chased me quite persistently. If I'm alive, they can still use me as bait to lure the demon out. If I die, it would look for a new target and more people would be endangered."
Nora took a deep breath after she said this, the pain wrecking her nerves. But she persevered.
"The demon was at least mid-level one. If not caught soon, it would definitely endanger hundreds of people," Nora added.
All this stabbed accurately at Arabella's weak points. She seemed to be weighing the pros and the cons.
At this moment, when she was about to succeed in persuading Arabella, the damned male lead opened his mouth.
"Nora, I would never make you act as bait," he said, sounding pained.
"You definitely will." Nora said calmly.
Nora held back the urge to beat him senseless. Not only would it hurt her more instead, she also would have to risk dying, so she strongly advised herself to stay calm.
"I know that you are a kind person, Calor, but you must not waver when it comes to demon slaying. Arabella is also a wonderful person, just like you. She would never put people in danger due to personal reasons. You must learn from her and be more like her," She said quickly, not forgetting to praise the couple who will carry her to the end of the story.
Calor clenched his fists tightly as he was lectured by Nora, his heart pained by the wrongful assumptions his sister made of him and was about to open his mouth again when Nora gave him a fierce glance, making him close his mouth instinctively.
'Brother, dear male lead, my son, I know you are good, but shut up. My life is at stake here.'
At that decisive moment, Nora coughed and blood spilled from her mouth, mingling with all the blood that had bloodied her clothes already.
Arabella looked like she had made her decision.
"Save her," She ordered. The servants who were standing there silently moved to catch Nora, who fell unconscious at that moment.
