Cedric gritted his teeth. He closed the room abruptly behind him and held her dress.
"What.. What are you doing?" she asked, suddenly flushing as she pulled the zip of her dress and it fell on the ground. She was still dizzy so when he came closer, she leaned more on him. For others, it would look like she was desperate for it.
But her heart was beating faster. Cedric was not here. Where was he when she came to their room?
"Do you think I will do something to you after this? You are wrong." he did not explain to her after what. But she knew he was talking about that man. She bit her lips and became a bit sober.
How could he accuse her without knowing? He should at least look into the matter. Her hand on his shirt loosened even when she was staggering.
She wanted to sit on the bed. She did not care if she was naked. She still had respect. But he did not let her go. So, she struggled. She has struggled with more tears in her eyes. She had worked so hard and did so much for him. She had endured her family's insults, and his family's insults, and taken care of everything he wanted and loved so much. Yet he had divorce papers in his office and she still hoped that he would take her in his arms!
It was not him she hated, she felt hatred for her own self. She had no backbone, no respect, nothing. Prudence was right. She was nothing but his lapdog. And yet… she wanted him to hug her.
How pathetic! She struggled harder, faster. Her whole body convulsed as if she was facing a seizure.
"Eve! Is this a time to throw a tantrum? I am trying to be patient here." he scowled. She could feel the impatience and rage hiding in his voice and instinctively she stopped fighting.
Suddenly she was lifted from the ground while her clothes lay on the ground. She struggled again but he held her tightly
"If you do that again, I will throw you out." in that condition? Without clothes? Her whole face burnt at that thought. She went stiff instantly. Her dizzy mind had heightened every touch on her body.
His cold hands felt so better. How she wanted him to force her on the bed but he knew it was her wishful thinking. It was not even her wish, something was wrong here.
Her face was red and stained with tears. Her lips looked swollen with all the biting. And her nude body was so alluring. Cedric looked away but when she stopped resisting, his touch went softer and his eyes tender.
He placed her on the bed and walked to the closet. The touch of her soft mattress was more than welcome. She had slept for a long while but suddenly she wanted to close her eyes and sleep again. She lay down and waited for him to bring another dress.
It would be better if she could take a bath. But there were so many guests waiting outside. It would look strange if they both stayed in the room.
As she had thought, the door knocked. But it was not maids on the door as she had expected,
"Cedric, do not be mad at my sister. It must be some misunderstanding." The words froze Eve. She had forgotten that in Cedric's and other's eyes, she was with a man in the room. "Why have you closed the room? Open it, I want to see my sister." the voice went demanding.
When Cedric did not reply, the woman knocked again. Strongly. And again and again, until he gritted his teeth.
"Do not go," Eve whispered but her voice was drowned in the violent shaking of the door and Eve heard her steps fading. The door opened and a woman hurriedly entertained inside.
"Oh my god, did that man do it with you? Did he force himself on you?" Elene stood nervously beside Cedric as she found naked Eve on the bed.
Her face was pale and full of disgust. "Sister, you should be cautious of another man. Even if you are drunk, you cannot bring other men to your room. I am only relieved that Cedric came on time." she shook her head and took the towel from Cedric's hands.
She went to Eve and sat beside her on the bed. She used the glass of water to wet the towel and washed her sister's face.
"I was so excited to meet you sister. But I have never thought it would be this condition. You are as reckless as I have remembered you. This incident reminded me of the time when you bought your first boyfriend home. You did it with him in the bathroom." Elene sighed loudly but Eve frowned.
"I never did such a thing. It was you who brought Lance home and shared a bathroom with him." Eve retorted with a frown. Elene went pale instantly. She turned to look at Cedric standing there with a cold look on his face and forced a smile on her face.
"Ah, yes. How silly of me. It had been years, so I must have remembered wrongly." the way she said those words was wrong. Eve wanted to point out the mistake but she was not sure if it was there or she was hallucinating.
She felt like she should add more to the accident. But it had been years and she did not remember much of it. Then she felt the touch of a cold towel on her skin and closed her eyes.
It felt better. Elene stared at Eve for a second before turning to Cedric. Her face was full of worries.
"I will take care of her. You should go to the party. Many guests are making strange faces. Though they are oddly silent. I do not know."
