Chapter 4 - The boy fate forgot

The house cast a long shadow over the landscape as the sun rose over the roof's peak. It looked like any old normal house but it was far from something as simple as that. This home held within it a family like none other in this universe, the home to Ankor and Hesara along with their family. Hesara was of immense beauty with hair of pure light and a complexion of perfection. Ankor on the other hand had hair of pure darkness and his skin was of pale white. Over the many years since they came to this universe their family had grown to accommodate their ever-growing household. Each child with their own ability and each able to control the power they held within. All of them except for one.

"sweetie, it's okay. Not everyone can control their abilities immediately. Sometimes it just takes a few years to practice and get it down." Hesara said to her son as he attempted to summon up his abilities once again. His older brothers and sisters had achieved their abilities by his age but for some reason he couldn't seem to tap into the full extent of his powers just yet. He was almost finished growing at the age of 12. Nothings age much more slowly than humans and many other creatures since every 1 "year" for a Nothing is 1 million in human years. 12 years old is the age where Nothings begin to finish developing and achieve full maturity.

"But why am I the only one that can't do it? All of my brothers and sisters got their powers down at my age. I don't even have a name yet like all of them. I'm just another son to you and father." The boy said as he thrusted his hands out once more trying to summon his abilities into existence. "I just don't get why I can't be like everyone else." He looked down at the floor dejectedly and his mother put her hand on his shoulder.

"It's alright if you don't get your powers. Sometimes things like this happen to our kind. You'll just get a name that you choose to be known as instead of a true name as well." The words caught in her throat slightly as she said them to her son. She knew that when a Nothing is born without their powers their life force will slowly leave them after their final growth year. She smiled at her son and then ushered him out of the power room. "We can try again tomorrow." He looked backed at her and smiled slightly as he continued walking out of the room.

"Stupid powers not working when I want them to. Freaking stupid little… ahhhh." He yelled towards the crimson sky as he strode across the front yard. "It's all a bunch of crap. Why am I the one that got screwed over when my idiotic siblings get their powers to just play with? It's not fair." The ground was covered in minhi grass and he laid down feeling each bristle brush against his skin. This sort of grass grows in many different universes but his parents could never find it in this one so when they made their own dimension they made sure it had this grass here. He looked up at the sky and watched the clouds roll by as his brothers and sisters who controlled wind and air played. He just wanted to be able to do what they could but he didn't know why he couldn't and he was tired of being picked on for it.

"Hey nameless, you still trying not to be utterly useless? Why don't you just give up already and go away? You're just like those miserable humans you seem to love so much. Powerless, weak, and fragile. They can't even live longer than 100 years and look like crumpled paper once they do finally die. Why don't you just leave and go to that… what was it again? Oh yeah, Earth." Kila said to his little brother as he kicked him in the side. Kila was one his parents first born in the other universe and was turning 16 this year. He stood roughly 6'3" with spikey bright orange hair. He could manipulate fire and enjoyed playing pranks on his siblings.

"Shut up Kila, I do have powers they just haven't come out yet. You just wait and see, I'll show you powers so amazing you won't know what to do." The boy stood up and faced his brother. They both glared at one another and the tension in the air felt as if a single thing moved it would be crushed in an instant. Kila balled his fist and It began to smoke.

"Enough boys. No fighting unless it is in the power room for training." Ankor said as he appeared between the two boys. He looked at Kila with a stern and concerned look and Kila immediately extinguished the flame that was now present in his hand. "You two have to stop this. You are family and should not be fighting the way you do." The two brothers never lost contact with the other's eyes and for a second the younger brother's eyes flashed a color of pure darkness which took Kila aback.

Ankor grabbed both boys by their collars and led them inside for supper. Supper in this household wasn't like what it was on Earth. In this household, each child chose their own thing to eat since Nothing's very rarely had to eat, if ever. Ankor preferred to eat rotten foods while Hesara only ate unripened fruit. Kila ate his plate of hot coals but his younger brother did what he normally did and just meditated through supper.

"I'm just going to go to bed. I'll see you tomorrow for training." The younger brother got up and went to his room closing the door behind him and locking it. Each room was enchanted by their parents so that their siblings couldn't get in if the owner of the room did not wish it. He flopped on his bed and sleep over took him.

The next day he awoke to the sound of birds and Rocatsas chirping and bellowing outside. He sighed as he sat up and looked over in the mirror. He didn't think he was anything special and could see how someone like him didn't deserve any powers. He had an average figure of five and a half feet tall with barely any muscles. His hair was pitch black with short hair on the side and light spikes on the top where it was slightly longer. Nothing about him screamed special so why should he stay here if he really was just a failure. Today was his 12th birthday and he would finally be finished growing but that also meant his powers may never develop. He headed down to the training room and saw both of his parents standing before him. "Are both of you training me today?" Both of them remained silent as he walked towards the center of the room. Once he reached the center he felt a sudden pressure and his breath caught in his chest.

"Son, as you know today is your birthday but we both want you to know that no matter what we will love you regardless of if you have powers or not." Silence filled the room as those words left Ankor's mouth. "Now, try and summon them up again." He said as he held his wife's hand. Hesara held back tears in her eyes as she watched her son try to summon his powers. Hours passed and nothing had happened yet when suddenly a man stood in front of the boy. His parents could not see this man but the boy could see him as plain as day.

"Who are you?" He said to the man in front of him. The man was shrouded in a cloak so the boy couldn't see his features but something about him enticed the boy. "Why does it seem like my parents can't see you? Am I going crazy?"
