"We left that place for a reason, and I do not want my family to be dragged into any trouble. We keep to ourselves here and haven't done anything wrong." Ankor placed his arm in front of Jacob as if to protect him from the lone man standing in front of them.
"Well, we both know that isn't true, don't we?" The man adjusted the cuffs of his suit and smiled at Ankor. "Inter-universal travel is explicitly not allowed under the statutes of our governmental laws." there was simply silence and tension in the air as what this man had just said was left hanging. Ankor's fists tightened and he tensed up, ready to grab Jacob at the drop of a pin. It felt like forever until the man finally spoke again.
"However, we are not within that universe anymore, now are we?" The stranger looked over to Jacob and he couldn't tell whether his eyes were looking at him or through him. This man made him feel unsettled but he knew his father wouldn't let anything happen to him.
"What do you want with my son, Mister Chancellor?" Ankor's voice was stern and full of accusation. He didn't understand how anyone found this place or even why they came here but to threaten his family. There should have been no way for them to track him from what he knew back in the day so how were they here now? Why were they here now was the other question nagging at the back of his mind.
"It's not what I want with your son but more so what the whole council wants with him. I am sure your son has awakened his powers by now, yes?" The Chancellor looked at Ankor and then again at Jacob.
"Well, yes… of course he has. But I don't under-" The Chancellor cut Ankor off with a wave of his hand and began speaking over him. "And that is exactly what has brought me to this lovely pocket world you and your wife cooked up here in this universe. I'm sure you remember the problem that was going on in the world all those years ago, yes?" The Chancellor motioned for something and three other men appeared out of thin air.
"I hate puppets." Ankor said under his breath. "Yes, of course I remember. My wife and I left before that could ever reach our family. But what does that have to do with anything? why are you suddenly showing up here now of all times and what does my son have to do with it? He can't help you with whatever you are scheming." The shadows began to darken and shift around Ankor as he motioned Jacob further behind himself and into his shadow.
"That problem was resolved long before ever reaching your part of the universe, but it came at a price. The council tried for a long time to get back what was taken but had no luck in doing so. So instead we have been keeping tabs on... some special people." Ankor's face grew even more concerned and Jacob could feel the power seeping out of his father. He had never seen this side of his father and it scared him a bit. He knew his father had some sort of strong ability but he had never truly seen it in action.
"My son has nothing to do with that past. He wasn't even born yet. You have no business here!" Jacob looked back and forth from his father and The Chancellor. He had no idea what was going on but he knew this man was saying things that his father did not like.
"But that is where you are wrong. Your son has everything to do with that past. He is a perfect match to be the vessel." The Chancellor snapped his fingers and the men who were beside him moments before appeared next to Ankor and seized his arms. "Besides, you really don't have a choice in this matter." Ankor struggled as strongly as he could, shadows rising and piercing the summoned men to no avail as an immense wave of exhaustion came over him dragging him into a deep sleep. Jacob looked on as his father slumped to the ground and The Chancellor began moving towards him.
"W-what do you want from me?" Jacob stood frozen as the chancellor came closer to him. The world began feeling smaller and smaller as he got closer. Jacob tried summoning his powers but nothing was coming forth, fear at the forefront of his mind keeping him frozen in place.
"Don't worry my boy, everything will be fine. You are about to receive a prestigious position in the world of Nothings. You will be one of, if not, the most important of all of us." Jacob didn't know what was going on but by the time he thought of anything to say he was already in the arms of two puppets. The Chancellor pulled a sealed jar out of his case and placed it on the ground. He began to chant in a language Jacob didn't know. As the words left The Chancellors lips the jar began to shake and a dark aura began to seep from the lid until it enveloped the jar itself. With the final words the jar shattered and Jacob screamed in pain as a symbol was burned onto his stomach. A spiral with bars across it like prison cells now marked his skin. Breathing heavily, he fell to his knees and clutched his stomach in pain.
"What did you just do to me?" Darkman gasped for air in between waves of pain that rushed through him.
"My dear boy, I have made you into something no one would ever dream of. Not even I know what is going to happen. All I know is that it isn't my problem anymore." The Chancellor's puppets disappeared and so did he as he walked through a rift that appeared behind himself. Jacob's mind began to flood with questions as his vision turned to black from the pain. His world had just been turned upside down in a matter of minutes. The last image he saw was of his mother's concerned face looking down at him and her words screaming at him and his father from a distance.
"Sweetheart?!" Hesara sent a message out to her children that had healing capabilities with her limited telepathy. "Someone come quick, your father and brother need help immediately!" The next few hours passed in a blur as Jacob and Ankor were moved to the healing quarters of the home. This wing didn't get much use as the children weren't allowed to use that much force with one another but accidents happen, especially with the ones who can fly. Ankor awoke the next day, his anger unfathomable and his disappointment for himself at failing to protect his son deeply seated within his heart. Days passed as Ankor and Hesara sat by their son, the new mark on him filling them with fear and worry. Little did they know something else was going on within their son that they couldn't even imagine. A great power had finally been awoken once more.
