Chapter 4 - She isn't short of money, as long as the goods are worth it

In Su Nian's apartment, she had installed the most advanced water filtration system available, producing water of exceptional quality. In three months' time, Su Nian had managed to fill all her water containers and tanks.

In addition to this, Su Nian had purchased a batch of bottled mineral water, as well as various beverages she enjoyed like yogurt and milk. Convenience foods were also a necessity.

Instant noodles, small bread loaves, compressed biscuits, packaged rice noodles, Chongqing noodles, snail noodles, hot and sour noodles, and self-heating hot pots – she bought hundreds of boxes of each.

Furthermore, there were energy bars, chocolates, and excellently advertised Snickers bars for supplementary energy. Su Nian bought dozens of each variety.

In the post-apocalyptic world, tobacco, alcohol, and tea served as a form of hard currency. Although Su Nian didn't need them herself, she still bought some of each type, storing them away for future use.

After purchasing these items in the morning, Su Nian went to the warehouse in the afternoon to await delivery. The first items to arrive were the shelves. They were all unassembled, and if Su Nian had to assemble them herself, she wouldn't know when she'd finish.

Su Nian negotiated with the workers unloading the goods, offering them extra money to help with assembly. Being generous with her money, the workers had no objections.

With many hands, the work progressed quickly. These workers were used to such tasks, and within three hours, all the shelves were assembled. While they worked, Su Nian went to get cash and settled their wages directly.

After sending off the workers, darkness had fallen. Su Nian turned off the lights in the warehouse, collected all the shelves into her space, and then locked the door before leaving.

To avoid suspicion, Su Nian decided to rent a truck the next day and make two trips to the warehouse daily, pretending to transport goods.

Upon returning home, Su Nian had dinner while contacting various factories. For various clothing items, she planned to directly contact manufacturers for supplies. Not only did they need to be diverse in type, but the prices also had to be reasonable.

She ordered dozens of each type of quilt, including cotton quilts, down quilts, silk quilts, cashmere blankets, and wool blankets. She also ordered dozens of sets of four-season bedding in various materials.

While Su Nian had plenty of clothes for daily life, they wouldn't be sufficient in the apocalypse. She selected simple and practical styles for items like short-sleeved shirts and shorts, buying hundreds of each style. As for undergarments, she chose many styles, purchasing thousands of each.

After the extreme heat of the year passed, extreme cold would follow, with temperatures dropping to minus sixty or seventy degrees. Hence, warm clothing was a necessity. Su Nian prioritized practicality over style, purchasing items like thick, ankle-length black down jackets in bulk.

Regarding shoes, she kept it simple with sneakers, hiking boots, snow boots, and indoor slippers. High heels were disregarded; such impractical items had long been banished from her life.

In the following days, Su Nian either received shipments or placed orders. Various insecticides, mosquito coils, insect repellents, camphor, anti-itch cream, frostbite cream – she ordered them all in large quantities directly from factories to avoid suspicion.

Additionally, various medicines had to be prepared. However, the quantity available in pharmacies was limited. Su Nian contacted her father's former friends, a pharmaceutical representative, who agreed to help her without hesitation.

After explaining her needs, Su Nian received the common medications she required, along with some items for treating injuries, under the pretext of donating to mountainous areas.

After solving the medication issue, Su Nian stored all the ordered goods in her space. Grateful for the assistance, she also anonymously sent a batch of groceries to her father's friend.

Whether in the apocalypse or rebirth, Su Nian had no intention of disclosing her preparations. Label her as cold-blooded or ruthless, she had already experienced death once. Now that she had regained her life, she only wished to live well.

After dealing with the medication, Su Nian received all the ordered goods, then locked the warehouse door and left in her car.

After gathering information from various sources, Su Nian finally got a lead on weapons. There was a museum of ancient weapons on Antique Street, which covertly sold authentic items. Su Nian visited and purchased two Tang swords, a long dagger, and a short dagger, spending twenty million in total. She didn't mind the cost; she had enough money as long as it was worth it.

It had been a month since Su Nian's rebirth. After collecting perishables from various stores, she rented a large truck and left the city. While she had enough grain, she still needed to buy vegetables and fruits, planning to procure them directly from rural areas or farms to ensure freshness. She also intended to buy freshly slaughtered chicken, duck, fish, pork, beef, and lamb.

Freshly slaughtered meat had its advantages; she could also get fresh blood for dishes like pig's blood and duck's blood. Canned goods were also necessary. Su Nian revisited a canned food factory, purchasing numerous cans, along with other cooked foods like ham sausages, braised beef, braised pig's trotters, and grey tofu.

Over the next month, Su Nian drove around nearby cities, buying everything she could think of. Whenever she passed a gas station, she refueled. After leaving the station, she found an unmonitored area to siphon off the gasoline into pre-purchased containers. It was a cumbersome method but ensured safety.

After a month, Su Nian had stored several tons of gasoline and diesel. It wasn't much, but it was enough for her needs.
