Chapter 10 - A kind-hearted fairy like you, with such beauty and goodness

The man looked up, his eyes sparkling in the dim light.

"Do you want to buy?" His voice was clear and cold, akin to a mountain spring.

Su Nian shivered. This man was aloof indeed!

"How much for this dagger?" Su Nian asked directly.

Though not comparable to her previous purchases, the quality of this dagger was still good. Since she encountered it, Su Nian didn't want to miss out.

Upon hearing Su Nian's inquiry about the price, the man's eyes brightened a bit, and his speech quickened.

"Fifty thousand, pick any."

"Fifty thousand?!"

"Is fifty thousand still too much? How about thirty thousand?"

Su Nian, "???"

Su Nian instantly put down the dagger in her hand, stood up in a hurry, and looked at the man warily.

She wasn't oblivious to prices. A dagger of this quality, if placed in the antique shop where she previously bought weapons, would start at least at five hundred thousand. But now, the man was asking for only fifty thousand?!

Hearing this price, Su Nian's first thought wasn't about a great bargain, but rather suspicion!

Su Nian looked around cautiously and quickly walked away. Can't afford it, can't afford it! What if she paid upfront and got robbed on the way back?

In a corner, Jing Mo watched Su Nian's hurried departure with disappointment, sighing heavily. Hunger gnawed at him; he had barely enough strength to speak, let alone to engage in business. After all those efforts, the deal still didn't go through!

Who would have thought that he, a renowned interstellar arms dealer, would come to such a pass? During his time travel, he inexplicably landed in this world, which was on the brink of entering the apocalypse. However, the order still stood, laws still existed, rendering his skills useless for now. His space was a weapon space; apart from weapons, nothing else could be stored, and he couldn't even spend his star coins or star cards here.

Jing Mo spent the whole day curled up in a corner, enduring hunger. Finally, as night fell, he attempted to emulate the locals by setting up a stall to earn some money for food. However, after waiting for two to three hours, not a single person approached him to inquire about his wares. When a young girl finally approached, she was frightened away by the price.

Shaking his head in resignation, Jing Mo picked up the weapons strewn on the ground and left the place. The path of earning money through peddling was not viable; he needed to think of another way.

After Su Nian briskly left, she slowed her pace while strolling through the neighborhood. However, her mind involuntarily returned to the man and those weapons.

The more she thought, the more puzzled Su Nian became. The discourse about the apocalypse hadn't fully erupted, so why would someone blatantly sell weapons at this time?

Could it be that the stall was a facade, and they were actually gathering information about their neighborhood?

Though Su Nian didn't consider the safety of the neighborhood her responsibility, she still lived there and didn't wish for any major trouble to occur. With this in mind, Su Nian turned back.

But as soon as she turned, she collided with someone. They separated swiftly, stepping back two paces each to steady themselves.

Frowning, Su Nian realized that the person she bumped into was none other than the man from earlier.

"You—"

"I wasn't following you!" the man interjected.

Su Nian raised an eyebrow, looking at the man's empty hands. "Where are your belongings?"

Jing Mo remained silent, pondering whether he should say he sold them all. Could this girl believe him?

"Are you thinking of saying you sold them all?" Su Nian squinted.

Caught off guard, Jing Mo rubbed his nose with his hand. "No, I've hidden them!"

In his space.

Su Nian didn't say anything more, observing him from head to toe.

When they first encountered each other, Jing Mo was sitting in a corner far from the streetlights, so she couldn't discern his attire clearly. But now, standing under a streetlight, she could see him clearly.

On such a hot day, others wore shorts and T-shirts or sandals. However, this man wore a military-green jacket, camouflage pants, and peculiar boots. Despite the separation after their collision, Su Nian felt a chill emanating from his clothes.

When Su Nian bought clothes, she bought various materials, but she had never seen anything like this fabric before. Additionally, his slightly long hair was silver-gray, not dyed, even at the roots.

The more Su Nian looked, the more startled she became. Just who was this man?

While Su Nian scrutinized Jing Mo, he was also assessing her. She seemed to be in her early twenties, fair-skinned, with delicate features. Especially her eyes, deep and unfathomable, added an air of mystery to her. Her hair was short, barely reaching her neck, loosely tied with a hairband, with some stray strands falling around her temples.

Her neat hairstyle gave her doll-like face a touch of sophistication. Although slender, hints of muscle lines suggested good physical condition and strength.

She stood quietly, seemingly harmless, but also capable of attack and defense. Clearly, she was highly vigilant.

Jing Mo's lips curled slightly. She was an interesting girl!

Seeing Jing Mo suddenly smile, Su Nian snapped back to reality. "It seems you're fine. I'm fine too. Let's part ways here."

Though this man was peculiar, he didn't give Su Nian a sense of danger. After weighing her options, Su Nian decided to part ways.

As Su Nian turned to leave, she was called back.

"Do you have any food?"

Su Nian looked puzzled. "What?"

Seeing Su Nian's confusion, the man wore a slightly aggrieved expression. "I'm thirsty and hungry, can't hold on much longer."

The man's lips were pale and cracked, clearly showing signs of dehydration.

But what did that have to do with her?

Before Su Nian could refuse, the man removed a ring from his hand. "Take this."

Su Nian stared at him, her gaze becoming even more wary.

They had only met twice, and now the man wanted to give her a ring?

Seeing Su Nian's expression, Jing Mo felt a bit embarrassed and hurriedly explained.

"This is a weapon."

As he spoke, he ran his finger over the surface of the ring, and three spikes protruded from it, the longest being one centimeter.

"Ordinary people wouldn't recognize this as a weapon and wouldn't be on guard. A kind-hearted little fairy like you should wear it."

Jing Mo handed the ring to Su Nian.

"Just give whatever price you think is fair! A kind-hearted little fairy like you wouldn't watch me starve to death on the streets, right?"
