Chapter 31 - The Dark Bar

Jamie's POV

After the woman had gone from the house, I had the whole house to myself and I wanted to do what I could do to get rid of Jane.

After the kidnappers had mysteriously gone missing, I thought the job had been completed but I had been so much a fool as to think that girl would be too easy to get rid of.

She was very stubborn. She was like a stain that wouldn't go anywhere.

Now I was stuck with her no matter what I did.

I hated the fact that I was stuck with her and I was going to get rid of her. I had to.

A knock on the door had me going to open it as I found my boyfriend whom I had stolen from Jane staring at me.

He had on a huge smile as I rolled my eyes.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked as I fell into a chair.

"I'm thinking of a way to get rid of Jane."

She was also in on it as well. He hated her to the point he was willing to do anything to get rid of her.

He had been the one who had connected me to the kidnappers and it had worked… until it hadn't.

"What do you mean?" He laughed, sitting beside me as his arm went over my shoulder with a hand grabbing a boob to squeeze. I didn't mind that he sexualized me. So long as I got everything I wanted, he could touch me however he wanted.

"Look, I don't know what you're talking about, but wasn't Jane taken care of by the men?" He asked as I sighed.

"I thought so too, but apparently she is still alive."

"That's impossible." I watched the boner he had when he had walked in deflate as he took his hand back.

He was also worried as I was that his sexual urges were nothing to him.

"I paid those men hefty wages to get her killed."

"I also paid them."

"It seems we have been cheated."

"Well, what do we do?"

"It's simple," he smiled evilly. "We find her and get rid of her."

"I already know where she is, and I doubt the prince would want you getting into the palace to get rid of her."

"What?! She's at the palace? How come I didn't know?"

"Because I just got the news today. It turns out she's also made some very interesting enemies over there. So we need to get rid of her without anyone knowing."

He stared into space for some time, his brain thinking up solutions and soon enough he came up with something.

"I know a guy who stays at the forbidden bar down the dark avenue. He can get us whatever we want, for the right price of course."

I thought deeply about this. I was broke but I still wanted to get rid of her. If I could get rid of her, I would finally have my freedom of course and mother would find out how resourceful I am.

She had blamed me since the first one went bust. If she heard that Jane was still alive, it would be my head on the line.

"Could I borrow some money from you?" I asked the man who nodded before giving me something to hold onto.

With a deep sigh, I readied myself for the next step I had to take.

I sought out the leader of an infamous bar filled with nefarious individuals, willing to pay any price to have Jane removed from the palace.

The bar was shrouded in a thick cloud of smoke when I entered, its dimly lit interior teeming with unsavory characters. I felt so out of place here and I had come alone, but I was willing to get to the bottom of this.

I navigated through the crowd, my heart pounding with a mix of apprehension and determination. This was not a path I ever thought I would tread alone, but my desire for freedom from my stepsister's presence pushed me forward.

If I could get her out of my life, at least I would be on my way to getting every attention to myself. And not getting overshadowed by my blind sister which seemed a bit stupid.

"Excuse me," I asked the bartender who shot me a strange look.

"Fresh meat I see," he laughed. "You're here for the big man?"

"Uh? Big man?"

"Yeah. You want someone to disappear don't you?"

That seemed a bit forward, but it wasn't like bad people had anything they didn't say.

"Yeah."

"Great. Go down the hall by your right and you'll see a large door there. Knock three times and say your name eight times before getting in."

I nodded before following his advice.

I heard a chuckle behind me but I still did what I had to do.

When I got to the door, I took a deep breath and knocked three times, taking a pause after each hit. When I was done, I waited for any response from within but when I didn't hear anything, I started to say my name, with a short pause within each call.

At the third one, someone opened the door in anger and gave me a stare that quickly shut me up.

He was tall and dark with his hair curled in the most daunting way.

His brown eyes was the first thing which had me shaking where I stood.

He walked in to sit down as I followed him.

"That darned bar tender just wants to drive me crazy," he muttered. "For gods sake, this is a bar, not a ritual ground. Just get in, say what the fuck you want and get the fuck out. He must have done the trick to you because you're still a newbie."

His eyes bore into mine when he was settled in, his gaze filled with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

"Now then," he said. "Tell me what you want."
