Katarina's POV
"No!" I heard the prince yell as I dropped the cup down and immediately waited for its effects to kick in.
It was time to end this horrible life once and for all. After all, it wasn't like Jane was going to survive anyway.
I was doing a horrible job at keeping her alive anyway. It was better she was dead and safe than alive and in a constant state of worry and pain.
I was joined by Trina who grunted in rage.
"What did you do?!" She yelled as I held onto the table, my body beginning to feel a bit weird.
"I did what you wanted," I said with a smile coursing through my face. "I took what you gave me."
For a moment I had my sight, until everything went blank and there was nothing to see anymore.
I tried to hold the table but I could not see where the table was as I fell to the ground.
She rushed to me on the ground and grabbed my hair, calling everyone around to look at me.
"Look, she's not blind, she can see very well," she said as I felt a certain sense of people around me.
"She can't see," someone in the crowd said. "She's clearly not looking at anyone of us here. Sure she might have had senses before the poison but now the poison is in her system only the gods knows what she's feeling right now."
"You elders really killed the wrong person this time. And a blind girl at that."
I didn't know who had said that but I was grateful I had gone blind at the last minute and that people were on my side because it meant I had cleared up Jane's name and if she was going to die, at least she would die innocent.
As the poison coursed through my veins, a searing pain gripped my insides.
It felt as if a thousand knives were piercing my stomach, twisting and tearing at my delicate organs.
The pain was unbearable, and I rolled over in agony, clutching my abdomen as I curled to the ground.
Every breath I took intensified the pain, causing a fiery sensation to spread throughout my body. It felt as if my insides were being devoured by an invisible force.
Waves of nausea swept over me, threatening to expel the poison from my body. I could feel my strength fading as the pain consumed my every thought.
My mind raced, regret and fear intertwining as I grappled with reality. I was going to die. Again!
Panic set in, amplifying the pain as my body fought to rid itself of the toxic substance. I gasped for air, my breaths shallow and strained, as I clung to the fleeting hope of survival.
In the midst of the excruciating pain, a flicker of happiness sparked within me. At least the prince was safe.
That was when I heard him fighting off the guards around him.

Kirigan's POV
I punched one of the guards hard as he fell to the ground, while kneeing one and smacking another to the ground.
Without waiting for anyone to hold me down, I ran towards Jane who was crouched on the ground, foaming at the mouth.
"No! Jane!" I yelled as Trina came between me and Jane.
"I can explain…"
Before she could finish, I pushed her aside which had her sprawling to the ground.
An elder came to me to threaten me for pushing away my betrothed, and with every anger in me, I punched him squarely across the nose which had everyone around me gasping at my actions.
"Anybody here comes between me and Jane again and I will end that person!" I growled with no one saying anything except Jane writhing on the ground.
I got to her and carried her up just as I stood up with her in my arms and found Gregory standing before me with a soft look in his eyes.
He unsheathed his sword and turned to the palace as he pointed to the guards standing around.
"If any of you doesn't value his life, take the first swing."
That seemed to do the trick as he led me into the palace and into my room.
While I was there, a kitchen staff member joined me with a cup of white substance in a vial which he gave to me.
"What is it for?" I asked.
"It's for most common poisons we have around," he said. "She's going to vomit everything up after drinking this."
I immediately took her to the bathroom and there, I gave it to her as she vomited everything she had taken before passing out.
The staff then called a few friends who got into the bathroom to clean out the mess as they also bathed Jane and brought her out as a new person.
They were about taking her out when I ordered for her to be placed on my bed.
"She sleeps here tonight," I said just as they left with Trina standing outside the room, wringing her hand.
I looked at Gregory as I walked to the door.
"Kirigan, I can…" I shut the door in her face before turning to look at the woman sleeping on the bed peacefully. At least she was okay this time.
"Are you going to be okay?" The general asked as I shrugged.
"I don't know."
I really don't know. No matter how I replayed that scene in my head, I don't understand it.
What was she trying to do?
"I thought she could see," the general said but I didn't know what to say. "Why would she take the wrong cup?"
"I don't know, but Trina and the elders have to be persecuted at once."
"My liege, you cannot persecute them."
"And why not?! They tried to kill Jane."
"I can see that but that is not how this works. Trina is your beloved. She is your betrothed."
"She can go ahead to marry someone else because I'm done."
