Chapter 25 - Gregory’s Threat

Katarina's POV

The woman who had barged in on the king and I suddenly went mad with rage as she slowly dropped the bag she had in her hand.

Her hair was packed in the most hilarious way but since this was the medieval time she was looking her best.

Her sense of clothing was also something I had not noticed on others out there but on her she looked like a skinny twig in a parachute.

"And you are?" She asked with her teeth gritting together in rage.

I almost forgot that I was blind as the prince held my face to his and went back to cleaning my lip.

"Hey Trina," he said. "You could at least knock before getting into my room."

"Who is she Kirigan?"

She still wanted to know and I knew any other wrong answer would mean my head would be found at the bottom of a ditch or something close to that.

"She is my personal maid," he answered on my behalf as she walked to me and snapped her fingers in front of my face.

I almost looked at her but the man's grip on my face as he cleaned my jaw was so much I could not look away.

"Will you stop that?!" She asked in anger. She closed the gap between us and raised her hand to slap me but I knew I had to be in character.

I looked at the prince who had a firm look on me as his eyes told me to not move.

I had to believe that he had a plan or I would act and he would not like how I would do it.

"You lay a finger on her and I will make sure you regret knowing me," he threatened in a low commanding voice which shook the room.

The silence was loud and all I could do was look at the man before me in shock as I had not been expecting him to act in this manner.

I started to wonder how a man so calm could be so cold.

In all my days with him, I had seen different sides of him but in all I had never seen him this mad.

He clearly looked angry and I wanted to tell him that I was not going to do anything to make him mad at me but that was clearly a lie.

I had already lied to his face and told him I would bring up a cure for his issues and now I was regretting saying anything.

"Alright, there we go," he said after cleaning my lip as we stood up to face her while I kept my eyes to the ground like I was blind.

From now on I had to be in character.

"She's blind, can't you see it?" The prince said as the woman felt stupid for daring to attack me.

She suddenly turned to a snake and started hovering about me with apologies.

When she was to my right, I turned to my left to talk to her and when she would come to my left, I would turn to my right.

Acting blind was harder than I thought. I had to truly behave blind and stumble upon things as I didn't have a cane to lean on.

The prince decided to help me and we both left the room while he held onto my arm as he took me to an already cleaned up room a deck below his floor.

"Here is your room," he said while entering the room as I marveled at what I was looking at.

When he closed the door behind him, I decided to thank his help.

"No need to thank me. Trina can be a little crazy at times but I'm sure you'll get to know her and see that she's not so bad," he said, but I doubted him.

"So… what happens next?" I asked.

"Now you start acting blind. But if you can't, I can give you the option of truly being blind," he waved a knife to me as I rolled my eyes.

"You keep doing that and you'll end up dying to whatever disease you have without a cure."

That alone scared him as he put the knife away.

"Anyway, whatever you need, just let me know and I'll have it prepared for you. You don't need to worry about anything. As my personal blind maid, all you need to do is do what I tell you to do and nothing much. Don't associate with anyone in the palace except me.

"Don't look into anyone's eyes. Don't be caught doing anything people with eyes can do out there. If you're caught, I'll have no choice but to call you out as a fraud.

"Hey, relax," I smiled. "I fooled my stepmother and sister and I'm sure I can fool your entire kingdom as well. Now all I need to do is get back to my work and you get back to your princely duties."

He nodded and waved to me before leaving.

Just as he opened the door to leave, Sir Gregory was at the door.

The two men nodded at each other before the prince walked away.

The warrior stepped into the room and stared me in the eye while the door closed.

"Hello sir," I gave my widest smile. "It is an honor to…"

"Now I don't know what kind of game you're playing or what deal you signed with the prince, but I am his personal guard, and if anything happens to him I will hold you accountable for it. I don't care who you are or what you are, I will make sure you are removed from this earth permanently.

"Take it however you want, a threat, a message, I don't care. But when I found out the real truth about you, you'd wish you had been blind and never set your eyes on me or the prince."

My body quivered as he left me alone in the room and slammed the door shut.
