Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Sanguine Manipulator

Chapter 9

Sanguine Manipulator

A loud sound of slap comes across their ear. It's harsh and loud and probably painful. Ara looked on her left side, as well as Cattie and Maddie. They saw a certain scene. Lady Alyssa was standing in front of a maid. The poor maid was lying on the floor, caressing her achy and burning cheeks.

"How dare you to wake up later than I? I was long wake then you'll just come now? What are you? A gold? You're just a mere weak and unworthy maid! You don't have the right to get late!" She yelled in much anger. She even kicked the leg of the maid. Ara looked at the scene emotionlessly.

'So, this how cruel she is? What a kind of woman.' She thought lifelessly. How can someone treat others this way? They are not Gods, not even powerful enough. Well, she got the "King's" favour and attention, so she got the guts to act this way.

"She got seven personal maids. Is that a big deal?" Ara heard Maddie whisper. Her gaze shifted to the six more maids at Lady Alyssa's back. They were looking at the poor girl who was crying in embarrassment right now.

"I think everything is a big deal to her; she's a real bitch who doesn't know how to be considerate and kind. Well, she has a big head and guts. kindness doesn't exist in her vocabulary." Cattie whispered back.

"I'm so sorry, my lady; I really don't mean to be late. Something important happened, and I didn't get here earlier. I hope you understand me." The girl reasoned out while begging, but that only received another kick from her. Maddie cringed at the scene; that's a pretty hard kick.

"I don't care how important you did or you attended whatever! You knew the rules; I don't tolerate latecomers, lazy and liars." What? How could she say that without knowing what really happened?

The girl crawls down on the floor, holds Lady Alyssa's feet, and begs. "Pardon me, my lady, it's really important. I lost my mother today, the only person I have. She died, and I'm not even by her side…" her voice cracked; there's a lot of painful emotion in her voice. But the cruel lady even raised her brow and seemed like she didn't care at all.

"Do you think I care? The hell with your mother, maybe she's an old and weak woman, that's why she died. Anyway, weaklings aren't important in this world. They deserve to die." Cattie's hand tightened from what she heard. What Lady Alyssa has been said is out of the belt.

"How dare she? She's not even that strong! Who do she think she is?" Cattie empathically said, and she was about to approach the scene, but Ara stopped her.

"Don't. Don't let yourself get involved. Think about your life, your friends, your family and Mrs. O'Neil. You know what the lady could do; I'm doing this because I agree with her. Someday, she will get what she deserves," she pauses and looks at the scene. Lady Alyssa is still mocking the poor maid.

"Let's get going before she can notice us watching." Cattie let out a deep sigh and nodded. Ara was right. She shouldn't act recklessly. That bitch is not an easy person to mess with. She will do everything to ruin you completely.

With one last glance, they left the area. Before they can leave, they hear the girls plead and cry. Is she not really considering her? No, she won't. Ara was just silent while they were cleaning at the library. The place isn't that dirty and messy, which means this place is not used frequently.

Well, it's not questionable at all. Not all people love to read books.

"Guys? Did you notice something?" Ara looked at Maddie when she suddenly heard her say that.

"No, what is it?" Cattie asked her and temporarily stopped wiping the dirt on the bookshelves to look at her friend. "The king went in the west wing earlier before we saw the scene; Lady Alyssa should be happy because the king visited her, but why did she look angry? I believe the maid's late appearance isn't the reason because she doesn't give a fuck to anyone except the king." Ara's eyebrow slightly lifted, then?

"Somewhat true, did he say something to her? Or… she's the one who he visited." Cattie seconded the motion. After a few seconds of silence, the two looked at each other. "Oh my, confirmed. She's grumpy because the king visited someone, and that was not her!" Cattie continued. Ara was left confused. Is that enough reason to be mad? How pathetic.

"Who's the lucky girl she visited? Is it Lady Natalie? I heard he chose her to sleep with him a week ago." Maddie said while grinning. Oh, they were gossiping right now, Ara thought amusedly.

"Or is it, lady Mariah? I heard she got the king's favour, too, like Lady Alyssa." Maddie shook her head.

"Nah, she's just assuming. I saw how the king pushed her when she was seducing him three days ago." Cattie laughed at what she heard.

"Seriously? That's madly hurt in her side. Haha." Ara shook her head in amusement, then resumed working while listening. The king really does have a lot of concubines, huh? What a wonderful man.

"True," Maddie agreed and looked at Ara. She's been so silent since they got here. Is she okay? "Ara?" She raised her head when she heard Maddie call her name. "Yeah, I'm fine." She answered. 'Oh shit, I used my power to read thoughts again.' She cursed in her mind.

"Oh gosh, did you just read my mind? I'm pretty sure I didn't ask if you're okay or not loudly. I was just in my mind," Maddie said in shock. Cattie looked at her, too, with the same expression as Maddie. Ara apologetically smiled at them.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to read your thoughts. I promise I won't invade your mind again." She apologised. The two were amazed; this was the fourth time they had met a person who could read minds. Before, vampires had this natural ability to read someone's mind, but as the days went on, vampires bred with humans, having this ability lessened.

There are a few persons who can telepath. Only the king, the second in command, and the prince knew who could read the minds. This is awesome.

"But please, don't tell others that I can do that." Ara continued. How can I be so careless? she scolded herself. I'll be careful about what I'm going to say next time, she continued.

"Of course, we will help you to hide it." Maddie agreed.

"Don't worry, that matter is safe with us. This is really cool, just curious. What you can do more? I mean, what is your power and ability? Aside from the natural abilities of vampires, like superhuman strength, speed, and fast healing, what's yours? Mine is I can control plants." Cattie said too.

'Oh, a plant manipulator.' Ara thought. That's actually a pretty powerful power, and that explains why Cattie loves the roses.

"Mine is I see the future. But in just a short span of time, for example, I can predict what will happen that day. Then tomorrow, I don't know." Maddie is a seer.

"The same as mine, I can only control the plant in a few hours. Using my power drains my energy." Cattie seconded the motion. Overusing power and ability is dangerous, especially when you're not used to using it or haven't mastered it.

Mastering your power is a great help to be powerful and help you to control it. Ara's lips formed into tight lines; she didn't know if she'd tell what her power was or not. It's quite confidential; if she tells, they will know how powerful she is and where she came from.

"It is okay if you won't tell us," Cattie said when she saw Ara's expression. But then she shook her head; a little lie won't hurt. And besides, it's not really a lie because she has this ability, too.

"Pyrokinesis, that's my power." Partly, but her real power is that she can control or manipulate blood, human blood, animal blood, or any creature's blood. Anyone who has blood running in their veins will be in danger if you meet her.

She's the last Sanguine manipulator.
