A jolt from deep within my chest made me stop mid-speech and frantically stand from my throne.
It was my necklace. The one I'd left within the inn. It was an ancient connection talisman that contained my blood. I had left it in the inn on purpose, though there was no telling if Diego would've kept it or thrown it out due to the way I had left things.
As long as I was alive, the wearer of the talisman could've immediately been sensed by me. It also had a protective spell on it from back in my time. My hope was to keep Diego safe on the off chance that my enemies had discovered him and how much I cared for him within the mortal realm.
So why exactly was I feeling that necklace's presence from the forests below?
