Avery's heart didn't stop beating loudly in her chest, in a rhythmic way. Her lips were pressed tight against each other as she gazed up at Sebastian.
"And why did you think I would help you?" Sebastian inquired, his voice etched with seriousness, and Avery found herself tongue-tied. She couldn't say a word as she waited until she saw the devil fired back the question at her.
Avery had thought Sebastian was becoming more calm, but she was wrong. The devil has always had a temperament against her.
"Maybe I shouldn't have asked him," Avery thought.
"You aren't answering; give me a good question: why do you want me to teach you that?"
"I thought you would help me since I will be tied to you; why can't I get accustomed to the way things are done in the mansion and also try to learn some new things?" Avery replied, hoping he would reason with her.
