Lily's POV
As the sun peeked over the horizon, I slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Chris...this time I made sure I woke up before he did. I padded into the kitchen, my slipper barely making a sound on the cool tile floor.
I made my way to the kitchen, with the intent on helping out with the breakfast. The maids were already there, bustling around. They glanced up at me with surprised look on their faces.
"Oh, there's no need for you to help," Vivian said, her voice laced with concern. "We've got everything under control."
"Please," I said, my voice firm but gentle. "I insist," I finished, my eyes meeting hers. "I want to help."
The maids exchanged a glance, their expressions softening. "Well, alright," one of them said, stepping aside to make room for me. "You can help with the toast."
I nodded, grateful for their acceptance. I moved to the toaster, my hands working quickly to butter and slice the warm bread.
