Chapter 27 - I Want Him, Dead or Alive

"I'm not interested in her," Edmond once again coldly interrupted, casually tossing the water bottle into Shajah's hands. Shajah looked at the water, grinned, and then at Edmond, his eyes revealing a mischievous glint. "So, Lord, are you more interested in that Yvette? Shh... Lord, Yvette is actually a guy." Shajah's tone was full of playful insinuations.

I began to feel unexplainably irritated. It seemed like everyone in Silvermoon City had another side to them!

"Shajah isn't as " Emery also sighed, shaking his head repeatedly. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I always thought he was a good man. He treats Bernice so well. Every time I come to Silvermoon City, he brings gifts for Bernice. Ah... people from Silvermoon City really can't be trusted." He sighed and looked at me. "Wife, leaving was the right choice."

I felt exhausted. How could I make Emery stop calling me his wife? He looked at me and smirked, winking at me, "My wife is adorable, even as a guy, she can capture Lord Edmond's heart."

I gave him a blank stare, too tired to explain.

"No one can steal anything from my hands in Silvermoon City!" Edmond was truly angry now. The deep eyes flashed with a purple light, narrowing and becoming even sharper, with a hint of ruthlessness. "I want him, whether dead or alive!"

"Whether dead or alive... whether dead or alive... whether dead or alive..." These four words started an infinite loop in my mind. He was truly ruthless when angered.

I massaged my temples. I suddenly understood that his relentless pursuit of me was not because I was important to him, but because my disappearance had fooled him, angered him, and challenged him.

In short, my disappearance with the escape pod made this almighty Lord Edmond make a mistake, remember it, and lose face in Silvermoon City.

The problem was that Emery, who was with me, stole the escape pod. Edmund, who dismantled the escape pod. I ended up carrying a huge black pot for Noah City!

"Rest assured, Lord. If they try to steal information from Silvermoon City using the escape pod, they will have to connect to Silvermoon City's servers, and we will know their location," Shajah became more confident, indicating that finding the escape pod would be challenging unless Edmund connected to their servers.

"Got it." Edmond walked away with a dark expression, sweeping up his sleeves as he boarded the larger spaceship. As the cabin door closed, the spaceship hummed and lifted off the ground. I saw that the lower part of the spaceship had round discs resembling octopus suckers, and at this moment, those discs were emitting a blue light, similar to the blue light on the ghost clan's flying car.

Suddenly, those blue lights became dazzling, and the spaceship soared into the sky. Following closely, Shajah's spaceship followed suit.Sigh... if we had enough blue crystal energy, we could also cross the radiation zone. Tsk, stingy Silvermoon City," Emery sneered.

However, what I cared about was not the so-called blue crystal energy that Emery mentioned but Edmond leaving. I kept staring at their spaceship until I could no longer see it. Only then did I finally breathe a sigh of relief – he had finally left, never to be seen again.

I was finally, somewhat, safe.

"Wife, let's go." Emery jumped off the chair.

I stood there absent-mindedly. "I want... some time alone." The wind howled in my face, and the swaying dry grass in front of me began to blur.

The long-unseen clear sunlight poured onto me, and the warm temperature gave me a sense of reality. I lowered my gaze. There was a moment when I still wished that everything in front of me was just a dream.

Emery stood below, looking up at me quietly for a while. Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed my wrist. "Why be so silent? Follow me!" With that, he completely ignored my request for some time alone and forcefully pulled me down from the chair, dragging me into the dim corridor.

"Bang, bang, bang." He pulled me through the corridor, through places I hadn't seen before, across one suspension bridge after another, and finally into the area I was familiar with – Emery's living quarters.

He pulled me up the stairs until the third floor in front of his room. He pushed the door open, turned on the dim light, and then grinned as he pressed me into the only chair in his room.

I panted heavily, but he acted as if nothing had happened. His lung capacity was really impressive.

I tried to get up.

He pressed me back down, smirking. "Don't want the bun anymore?"

Oh... right...

After Edmond left, I began to wander in my thoughts. Edmond was my only threat, so he kept me on edge. However, after knowing that I was completely safe, confusion started to take over my heart.

In my world, at this time, if it weren't summer vacation, I should be in class...

Sunlight streamed through the bright windows of the classroom, falling perfectly on my desk. There were many words left by seniors on my desk – messages like " or even cheesy love confessions like "I just want to secretly love you, love you until the end of time." And all those mushy love notes.

At the age of sixteen, with the first taste of love, everyone would secretly write love notes on the corners of their desks or in their diaries. There were also... love confessions on the restroom door...The school bell rang, signaling the arrival of the teacher. Some classmates listened attentively, some started to doze off, and others engaged in fidgety activities.

Oh right, this September, I should be entering high school... I wondered what my new deskmate would be like.

"Wife? Wife?!" Someone vigorously shook me, and I snapped back to reality. In front of me was Emery, looking slightly nervous. As he saw me looking at him, he let out a sigh of relief, as if afraid I had lost my mind. His amber eyes carried a mischievous smile. "Who are you thinking about? Is it me?!"

I rolled my eyes at him, not bothering to respond.

"It must be me. You're just too shy to admit it. Hahaha—"

Who gave him such confidence!

"Wife, your bag is really nice. This kind of bag can't be made now..." Emery had my black double-shoulder bag in his hands, curiously flipping it around. "Is this found in the ruins? It's so heavy... What did you put inside, wife?" He shook it a bit, curious to unzip it. I immediately snatched it from his hands and held it close, guarding it. "Don't touch my things!"

He paused, then reached out, trying to calm me. "Okay, okay, I won't touch it. Wife, I have something delicious for you." He smiled, turned around, and rummaged under his steel bed. Then he took something out, still hidden behind his back, stood up with a grin, and extended his hand. In his hand was something that looked like... chocolate.

"Here, wife, this is something I found with great difficulty in the ruins – it's chocolate!" He stuffed the chocolate into my arms, still clutching the bag tightly. "I heard that eating this can improve your mood. I don't know if it's true..." He rubbed his chin, expressing a hint of doubt.

Ruins? Why did he mention ruins again? And why did he say the chocolate was found in the ruins?

I slowly loosened my arms around the bag and picked up the neatly wrapped chocolate. It was wrapped in aluminum foil, and the characters on it were also in Chinese. I just realized that the common language here was Chinese!

I had been too confused for too long, neglecting many details.

In fact, Emery had been helping me all along. He saved me time and time again...

"Wife! Wife!" Suddenly, Emery called me again. I looked at him coldly, and he once again showed that reassuring expression. I stared at him puzzled. "Why do you keep calling me?!"

Scratching his head, Emery grinned. "You're always daydreaming. I'm afraid you'll turn into a dummy." After saying that, his amber eyes focused on my face, carrying a gaze filled with concern.

I was taken aback. So... he was worried about me.
