However, Gabby immediately encountered some problems the moment she began her 'experimentations'. Sebastian's arm healed so fast, she couldn't actually use a needle on him!
"I told you. Just cut my hand and take some blood. It will heal in a second," Sebastian said. "Human paraphernalia do not usually work on us. Needles, knives, and guns…"
"But Aetherium bullets work on you… right?" she asked. What about Aetherium knives?
"You cannot bring that thing inside this place without attracting the attention of my grandmother. To us, Aetherium smelled like sulfur. It is a smell that we dislike," Sebastian calmly explained. "They would probably immediately take you down the moment you walk inside the mansion."
Gabby frowned. If only she had access to an Aetherium. She glanced at the tools that Sebastian brought for her. There were knives, swords, chains among other things.
Most of them don't work on him. His body healed so fast, the wound would instantaneously disappear the moment they appeared!
By now, Gabby was already so shocked, she didn't know what else to say! This is just beyond her imagination!
However, the fact that most of these things don't work for him is going to be a problem. She narrowed her eyes on him. She could, of course, research some newer weapons that might work on him aside from Aetherium.
Surely, there should be something on Earth that she could use against him, right? Should she try a few more experiments?
A smile appeared on her face but before she could say what she wanted to say, the two heard a loud banging on the door.
She looked at Sebastian who was already staring at her. Those Lycans… are they here because… of his mate?
...
Ten minutes ago
Victoria's brow furrowed. "What did you say? Sebastian... he..."
Dindo presented a list. "The young master gathered these items. Handcuffs, needles, chains, knives, and swords. There are even things like... a whip and..."
"Enough!" Victoria's face flushed. She never imagined Sebastian would immediately acquire these things upon Gabby's arrival in Aetheria. Her chest rose and fell rapidly.
She never knew her grandson harbored such peculiar desires! However, she also couldn't determine if this was simply a result of them being mates.
Having never met her own mate, Victoria lacked any frame of reference. The library books mentioned an intense, almost illogical attraction upon meeting one's mate.
It spoke of unreasoning lust, but... she glanced outside. It was daytime, and surely Gabby's human body wouldn't be able to endure everything! What was Sebastian thinking? He was going to injure her or worse kill his own mate!
"We need to go," Victoria declared.
"But the Elders..."
"No. We need to save Gabrielle."
"Madam... the young master instructed us not to disturb them..." Dindo was not able to finish his words as Victoria was already outside of her office.
"He'll kill his mate!" Victoria exclaimed, already rushing towards the door. How could she allow Sebastian to accidentally harm his mate? Finding him a mate was a blessing from the goddess.
Accidentally hurting her would surely incur divine punishment! This had to be stopped, no matter the cost!
BANG
BANG
Victoria started pounding on the door the moment she arrived. Another two loud bangs followed.
"Sebastian, open the door!"
Receiving no answer, she knocked again. "Sebastian! Don't make me destroy this door!"
Just as she prepared for another blow, the door finally creaked open, revealing a smirking Sebastian.
"Grandmother—" Before he could finish, Victoria forcefully dragged him out, ensuring the door remained shut.
"Grandmother—" Sebastian started again.
"Clean yourself up and meet me in my office," she commanded.
"Huh?"
"Now?" Victoria pressed. "Don't make me repeat myself, Sebastian Devereux!"
She stormed away, barely containing her fury. The moment the door opened, the scent of blood assaulted her senses. Only the goddess knew what Sebastian had done to his mate, but at least Gabby was still breathing. Her erratic heartbeat inside the room confirmed that.
Sebastian finally entered his grandmother's study after a short while.
"Explain yourself, Sebastian Devereux! What did you do to your mate?"
"Grandmother—"
"I don't care about your inclinations, young man," Victoria interrupted, "but harming your mate goes against the teachings of the goddess!"
Sebastian blinked at her, utterly confused. "What are you talking about?"
Victoria sputtered, "The... the tools, Sebastian! The chains, the needles... what were you planning to do to poor Gabrielle?"
Sebastian, finally piecing things together, burst out laughing. The image of his regal grandmother conjuring up visions of torture made him lose it entirely. Tears welled up in his eyes as he doubled over, clutching his stomach.
"Sebastian Devereux! This is no laughing matter! Did you hurt her?" she asked, her face ugly.
"Grandmother… I was just trying to prove that we could bring human things inside the barrier," Sebastian said. "And show her that it doesn't work on us."
"You— " Victoria narrowed. A part of her does not believe what Sebastian just told her. They were mates. Mates can barely stop each other from tearing each other's clothes apart. Those two had been in the room for hours. She refused to believe that they—
"Ehem…" Victoria cleared her throat. "Since that is the case then… you should be careful. Your mate is a weak human. She is not as strong as Lycans. You could probably break her spine with one push."
"…" Sebastian said nothing. Who would have thought that his actions would create such misunderstandings? However, what he never expected was how protective her grandmother had gotten towards Gabby after just one meeting.
"Madam… all of the Elders have arrived," Dindo informed Victoria. Almost immediately, Sebastian's face turned serious. \
The Elders are a group of Old Lycans who worked as his grandmother's advisers. There are seven elders and all of them work closely with his grandmother for the overall welfare of the Lycan race. However, this was not the problem.
The problem is, those Lycans hated him just how much they hated his father for what he did in the past.
