Chapter 16 - Misunderstanding 3

However, what Sera expected never happened.

Gabby never paled or acted scared when the sparring session started.

While Sera already found this strange, what she actually found even more strange was Gabby's reaction. Gabby's eyes were wide as she stared at two Lycans wrestling in front of them. It looked like she was not blinking at all.

Was this human normal? Was she getting excited about the fight?

Sera glared at Gabby, wondering what she was so excited about. By now, Sera expected Gabby to act scared or intimidated by the Lycans' fighting style.

Sera especially told them to show their best just for this spar. She removed all restrictions and promised them enough compensation once they bled.

This was supposed to scare the humans away!

Wouldn't it be better if the human just stayed in her world? If she got so scared and insisted that they stay in the human world, then Sebastian would not have any other choice but to stay in that place as well!

The plan was supposed to be simple! A normal human who grew up sheltered would have reacted by now!

Sadly, Gabby was not showing anything on her face aside from the fact that she seemed too excited.

Was she used to it?

Does she watch those fighting competitions on TV? However, those fights were not as brutal as the one before them!

What is happening?

Even Victoria was surprised to see this type of reaction from Gabby. However, she could not deny the relief in her heart.

Perhaps being mates is different?

Perhaps she already has a connection with Sebastian and was suitable to live in Aetheria? This somehow made her happy.

Obviously, the two of them did not know what Gabby was thinking at that moment. And they would not have guessed that she was currently trying to calculate their speed in her mind—something that was proven to be very difficult.

Gabby's eyes were practically vibrating in their sockets. The two Lycans tearing into each other were a blur of fur and teeth. They moved with inhuman speed, their bodies defying gravity as they launched themselves at each other with bone-jarring thumps.

One Lycan, a hulking brute with fur the color of midnight, would lunge with a ferocious roar, only to be met by a flash of silver fur – his opponent, a leaner Lycan with the reflexes of a cornered cat.

It was like watching a physics experiment gone gloriously wrong. Limbs bent at impossible angles, bodies contorted mid-air, and roars turned into surprised yelps as momentum sent them careening into the sand like furry bowling pins.

Every now and then, a stray fist would connect, sending a shockwave through the air that ruffled Gabby's hair.

The whole scene was like a fast-forwarded wrestling match commented by a pack of hungry wolves. It was both brutal and strangely hilarious.

Gabby couldn't help but let out a squeak of laughter as one Lycan, clearly overestimating his jump, ended up clinging to a beam overhead like a particularly hairy spider monkey.

His opponent, the silver blur, paused mid-pounce, blinked at him in what could only be described as utter bewilderment, then burst out into a fit of what sounded suspiciously like Lycan laughter.

Sera, whose face had been steadily turning the color of a particularly ripe tomato, let out a growl that could have rivaled the combatants.

This wasn't going according to plan.

....

"Where?" Sebastian asked as he wondered if he heard the right thing.

"Sera took her to the Arena with your grandmother," Dindo answered. He was instructed by the Madam to tell Sebastian about this matter.

Sebastian's face immediately changed. He got up and rushed towards the door.

"Young master, where are you going? You cannot leave now. The master was waiting for you."

"Tell Father that I have some important things to attend to," Sebastian said when Dindo tried to stop him.

Because of his grandmother's silly misunderstanding, she sent him to talk to his father for some random thing.

However, Sebastian knew that their head was only trying to separate him from Gabby—a thing that he found hilarious.

To maintain the facade, Sebastian agreed and left Gabby alone while warning her not to try and study her grandmother. She could not imagine the woman proposing to draw some blood from Victoria.

While he found that comical, he knew that Victoria would probably explode from the disrespect and might strangle Gabby.

Just how did he stumble into a woman like that?

Instead of being frightened and overwhelmed by the information of this new world that could end her life, Gabby was showing something else.

She seemed very excited to delve into their world! Was it because of her own family in the human world?

Sebastian's face turned ugly as he thought of Gabby's sister. At one point, he was tempted to simply strangle her and tell everyone how she fell from the stairs and broke her neck, but that would be illegal, and he didn't want to cause too much trouble for Gabby.

After all, he was here to seduce the woman. Not create problems for her to solve.

However, knowing that Gabby was with his grandmother somehow made Sebastian feel better. He was currently in the human world, and it would take him a few more minutes to get to the mansion.

He could only hope that it wouldn't be too late then.

After what felt like forever, he finally arrived inside the mansion and immediately went to the Arena—the place where younger Lycans usually train.

Just the thought of Gabby drooling at those test subjects was enough to make him lose his mind!

Even when Sebastian was still outside of the Arena, he could already feel the tension that the fight was giving off.

A fight to death!

Only a fight like that would give off this kind of aura. What the hell was Sera thinking?

He knew that his sister hated the humans because of how her mother died, but why the hell would she go this far?

Sebastian already introduced her as his mate to keep them off Gabby's back!

It looked like he underestimated their hatred for humans! He strode towards the Arena and immediately found what he was looking for.

His face darkened.
