Everyone was taken aback by what Vox said. What a malicious way to twist what happened.
Kenser exclaimed /"Tell Madam Bell I did what?!"\
Without moving his head, Vox swiftly looked at her on the floor.
/"You heard me. You hired this crazy bastard to attack me with that bottle but by a not-so-wonderful turn of events and luck, your plan failed. Look, we're even standing in the evidence"\ Vox said then chuckled as he let go of Makieth's arm.
/"Let's see what your madam does now. It's going to be fun watching you get kicked out and thrown to the wild like a dog."\ He said then smacked his tongue.
Avery looked at Kenser, wondering what Vox could have said to cause such a reaction from her.
He asked "Kenser, what did he say this time? And don't cover up the truth"
She sniffled angrily and then said "Don't worry, I won't this time. This bastard said that I hired you and your friends to kill him with the bottle of alcohol that broke on the floor when you two hit"
"What? That's ridiculous. Nobody would believe anything like that"
"Of course, nobody will. He's only doing this because I rejected him whenever he made advances at me. I told him that if he wants to mess around then there are other girls in here who'll play with him but he can't force me or any of them to touch him if we don't want to. Those are the rules" Kenser said.
Avery looked at Vox and frowned. He hated the fact that he couldn't personally tell Vox what he had in mind.
After some seconds, Vox looked beside himself and saw Makieth still standing there.
/"What the hell is this whore still doing here?"\ Vox asked his friends who all shrugged.
He glared at Makieth who was shaking, unsure of what to do because she was still new to the Velvet Serpent.
/"Hey, whore! Are you deaf or do you want me to make you go call your madam? You know what? That sounds like a good idea. Come here!"\ Vox grabbed Makieth's long blonde hair which caused great pain to the girl.
Kenser gasped and then yelled, /"Hey—!"\
Before she could finish, Avery had stepped in.
He grabbed Vox's arm which held Makieth's hair and then said "I know you can't understand what I'm saying but I've had enough of your attitude. All of this would have been solved if you just accepted my apology for the accident and went on your way, but I guess that's not enough for you. Well, I can't stand here and allow you to do this so I guess the both of us have a problem"
Vox looked at him with disgust.
/"What is this monkey saying—?"\ he said but wasn't able to finish when suddenly, Avery cut his hand that held Makieth's hair with one of the broken pieces of glass from the floor.
The glass piece had some particles of alcohol on it which immediately transferred to the wound and the intense stinging sensation forced Vox to let go of the girl.
/"The hell!"\ Vox exclaimed, looking at his hand and seeing the clean cut.
/"This bastard!"\ Vox said, vibrating with rage as he looked at Avery, who let go of the glass piece and it fell to the floor.
Makieth ran over to Kenser's side, asking /"Are you okay, big sis? Big sis, what should I do?"\
As the newest girl to join the Velvet Serpent family, it was normal for Makieth to call Kenser, who has been there longer than she has, her big sister, just as Kenser and her actual sister did for the older girls when they came onboard.
/"I'm fine. Is your hair okay?"\ Kenser asked and Makieth nodded.
/"What about your wrist? I hope the bastard didn't hurt you while holding it like that"\ Kenser said then checked Makieth's wrist, seeing that it was red but aside from that it seemed fine.
Kenser sighed in relief.
/"Good"\ She said.
Makieth looked at Kenser's condition and said /"But big sis, you're injured—"\
Kenser cut her off, saying /"Don't worry about me. I've been through worse. Anyway, I have an important task for you"\
/"Important task for me? Anything big sis. What should I do?"\ Makieth asked eagerly and Kenser smiled.
/"Go find Madam Bell and get her here as soon as possible. I know what you're going to say and it's exactly what that bastard wants, but hopefully, she can stop this before it gets too out of hand"\ Kenser instructed and Makieth stood up.
/Okay big sis. I'll be back with the madam as soon as possible"\ She said then rushed to carry out the task.
Just then, staring at Avery standing in front of the five bigger and stronger-looking men, Kenser thought /'I messed up. I should've gotten the madam the moment this prick grabbed Avery's collar'\
She looked at Makieth running through the curtain that separated the main hall from where Madam Bell's private room was and she said /"I just hope she gets there and back in time before something really bad happens"\
