Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Isolated

"Hey, why did you bring me a different flavour from what I asked for?" A girl of around eighteen could be seen poking and pushing a frail looking girl, who had her head lowered as the insults rained on her.

"I-"

Slap!

"Don't interrupt me while I talk. Who do you think you are?" The girl kept on yelling at her while she stood there meekly.

"Get lost! You disgust me." After giving her a kick, the eighteen year old girl looked at her in disdain.

The others who were watching the show unfold with amusement laughed out loud when she fell because of the kick.

As she walked away in a sorry state, the tears she had been holding back instantly gushed down her face. It looked so heart-rending.

After drying her tears, she went back to class as though everything was fine. Only God knew how empty her heart felt.

People gave her disdainful glances as she walked to her seat in the corner. That was where she sat. Alone and isolated as no one wanted to associate themselves with a poor person. She came to the school through scholarship, which only gave the students a chance to bully her.

She ignored the gazes and took her seat. She was used to the glances, anyway.

The girl's name was Ayla Williams. She was always bullied because she came from a poor background. Her mother died three years ago from terminal cancer, while her dad was unknown. She usually lived with her mother until when she died. She was forced to toil as she studied as she had no other ways of making ends meet. After school, she would work at a coffee shop downtown to get some money for upkeep. That was how her life was. Lonely and bitter, because her only family was gone. She only had herself.

She slung her worn-out backpack on one arm and walked home slowly. She could only sigh as she looked at the luxurious cars that came to pick the students of Azure High School, the school she attended. She knew she would never be able to get into such cars. She couldn't afford it, after all.

It seemed like she wasn't going to be beaten up by those bullies that day. She exhaled and smiled while thanking the heavens. However, her smile froze when she arrived at the alley that was on her way home because the bullies were watching her while smirking. This was it.

"Hey nerd, we missed you." One of the girls stepped forward as she said this.

Ayla shrunk back in fear, but before she could escape, she was forcefully yanked back.

In a car that had stopped at the side, a man watched all this unfold with indifference. The chauffeur was sweating buckets watching the scene. He could feel pain just by watching. He couldn't help it. He swallowed hard in fear and turned to look at the man in the backseat.

"Sir, should we go and stop them?" The chauffeur spoke carefully. His hands had already turned clammy by the time he finished the statement.
