"Who the fuck are you fuckers?" The small man asked, pointing his gun at Alex.
The group was about to attack the small man when Alex raised his hands and stopped them.
"My name is Alex, we were brought here on a mission." He said, trying to sound friendly. But this only caused the small man to raise the gun even closer to one of his eyes.
"We are not enemies." Alex tried to defuse his caution towards him.
"Yea, right, what else would you human fuckers do here besides trying to kill my people!" The small man shouted.
"We are not here to kill your or your people, we are simply here because we were forced here." He said. This caused the small man to lower his gun by a bit.
"And why are you forced here?" He asked.
"The others have more power than us, so we need to get stronger, or to escape." Alex said, mostly being true.
"Tsk, fine, humans, follow me." The small man said as he leaned the gun on his shoulder before he started to walk away.
Alex chose to follow him, and the others followed Alex, they walked for half an hour before they saw a fortress. It was built into the mountains.
"Where is this?" One of the group members asked.
"Where else, this is the fortress, Delvore. The fort is Dwarves made after you humans drove us from our lands fifty thousand years ago." The dwarf scoffed.
"I have never heard of this." Someone muttered to themselves.
"Of course you humans wouldn't tell your future generations that you almost hunted a race to extinction." The dwarf said.
"Understandable, could you tell us what happened?" Alex asked.
"What else, you humans not only did this to the dwarves, but also the elves, beastmen, and some other races. You felt threatened, humans are not very good at anything, but can do everything, us races that specialize in them threaten your future businesses." The dwarf said with a scoff.
"There are elves and beast men as well." Someone said with happiness in their voice.
"I'm not sure about them, they all might have died in a hole somewhere. Last time they contacted the dwarves were well over forty thousand years ago." They soon made it to the fortress.
"Oi! The humans ain't only being assholes to us, but also to themselves!" The dwarf shouted, the other dwarf from the fortress shouted back.
"Of course they would, they would kill anything they feel is a threat to them!"
The gates of the fortress opened up. And they walked into the fortress.
"Halt!" A dwarf shouted. They looked the way and saw a dwarf in heavy armor. He held a heavy two handed hammer.
"His majesty is currently calling for you and them." He said while pointing to the group.
"Fine, very well. You lot, follow me." The dwarf shouted at the group.
They started to walk through the fortress.
"Alright, humans, if you want to make it out alive, then you will need to be respectful, good at telling the mood, and not point out any mistakes they make, if you don't, then you can forget making it out alive." The dwarf scoffed.
This caused the others to gulp. No one wanted to die, and they could sense the strength of the people around here. They were all at least intermediate, while only the best of their group were intermediate. Over sixty percent of them were basic while those in intermediate were on the lower scale.
"We are here." The dwarf said. Opening the giant gate before them. They were in a large hallway, and it led to a staircase which a throne was uptop and on the throne was a dwarf, he wore a crown and had high quality items and jewelry on him. He we no doubt the king.
"So you fellows are the humans who dare to even enter this mountain range, quite bold aren't you." The king said.
"We have no other choice, the others would harass us to no end, and that harassment will eventually lead to violence, we do not wish to fight against those we don't have to." Alex said, he bowed his head.
"How naive you are, are you really human?" The king said, his eyes which were closed were now opened. He looked at the group with his eyes which were like jewels.
"Yes we are humans."
"Incredibly naive humans. If you really think you can just avoid fights because you prefer to not fight, you can only be described as a fool who dreams too much." The king said before he closed his eyes.
"But that innocents and naivety, is more precious than you can ever know. Very well, you shall be allowed the citizenship of our fortress should you manage to complete one of the great quests!" He said, at his word a dwarf left the throne room before he quickly came back. In it was a large book. It had eyes and a large mouth.
It then started to shack before it flew up. It then started to talk.
"Quest 1: Death of Great Mountain Bear.
Quest 2: Capture of Unseen.
Quest 3: Fuel the underworld flames.
Quest 4: Destruction of Earth Orc tribe.
Quest 5: Kill the one who watches." It then fell back to the tray the dwarf was holding.
"Choose wisely, once chosen you can not back down." The king said. Alex took a while to think, 'Quest 5 seems like he is telling us to kill the dungeon lord or whatever, quest 2, 3, and 5 are quite unspecific. Leaves a lot of the imagination. As for 1 and 4, those two are the most reasonable.'
"We will chose Quest 5." Alex stated. The others also agreed, mostly because they were already proficient in killing orcs, much better than anything on this floor.
"Very well, I hope you can complete the quest while keeping your innocence." The king said, closing his eyes.
