Selena sighed as she looked at the piece of paper in her hands, it was a detailed contract, Selena was not surprised that Damien already had this prepared, of course he was a step ahead of her.
Selena glanced through the contract, there was nothing wrong with it, if she agrees to be his wife, she gets to enjoy all the privileges of being the daughter in law of the Parker family. In return, all she had to do was be his wife, that was too easy.
"Do you need glasses now?" Damien asked as he watched her squint her eyes as she looked at the contract.
"No, there's something I'm not seeing clearly, I think it's my eyes" Selena answered as she slowly read out what she saw. "Why can't we stay in separate rooms?" Selena asked, the text clearly said that they would live in the same bedroom.
"You want us to stay in separate rooms?" Damien answered her question with his question.
Selena could see the game he was playing, there was no need for them to stay in the same room. "Strike it out" Selena said as she picked a pen.
"No" Damien answered as he collected the pen from her. "Are you scared of staying in the same bedroom with me?" Damien asked as he looked at her. He didn't mind her striking it out, It was her choice, Damien had been sleeping alone in his room for years now and he was doing just fine, her company was not really needed.
"No, I'm just considering you Mr Parker" Selena said slowing as her eyes looked at him dangerously, she gently bit the pen all the while maintaining eye contact with him.
"You think I might not be able to hold myself?" Damien asked with a grin, he placed his hand on her face as he cupped her cheek. "Watch your words" Damien said as he let go of her chin and returned to his position.
"When we get married, you are not going to order me around right?" Selena asked as she signed the contract and passed it to him. "I don't follow orders, and don't expect me to cook for you" Selena went on and on like a child as she listed all the things she was not going to do for him.
Damien didn't say anything, he watched her talk and talk but Damien wasn't listening, he had his eyes on her face the entire time as he began to wonder. Why was he doing this? If he needed a wife so bad then why didn't he just marry one of the Quinn's daughters, that would even help boost his business. Damien didn't know why he wanted to marry her, after seeing her at that bar the other
night something changed. He remembered the look in her eyes, she was open that night, even though she was drunk she looked more sober than she did now. That night she told him everything, though it seemed like she couldn't recall what happened that night. Damien had so many questions, the girl was a mystery, he felt that she was somehow related to a case that he had been investigating for the past ten years now. At first Damien didn't think it was possible but seeing her now, he was sure that perhaps maybe he was right.
"Have you ever been married before?" Selena asked.
Her question broke Damien out of his trail of thoughts, he looked at her and a question popped in his head. The report he saw didn't say anything about her age, he could guess and say she was in her early twenties, maybe twenty two.
"How old are you?" Damien asked as he put the contract back inside the envelope, he opened one of the drawers and kept it inside.
"Twenty three" Selena answered.
"Thought as much" Damien said as he took a sit on the couch.
"What? I'm too young for you?" Selena asked as she followed him and took a stance in front of him.
"I never said that" Damien said as he relaxed his body on the couch, he checked the time on his wrist watch. "It's past one " Damien said as he sighed.
"So, the magistrate office doesn't close till six" Selena spoke as she too glanced at the time. She had made arrangements with Diana but it didn't seem like her plans were going to happen. She would call Diana later to get her up to speed.
"I know but the place would probably be filled up right now" Damien spoke as he picked up his phone and checked for notifications.
"And so what? You are a billionaire, just show your face and I'm sure the crowd would give way" Selena added.
"I'm not really famous around here" Damien spoke picking his words carefully.
"But the name Parker is" Selena interrupted. There was no one in this City that didn't know the name Parker.
"Well everyone knows Thomas Parker and Moriah Parker and even though I'm their son, I'm not really famous around here." Damien explained, he creased his brows as he read a notification on his phone.
"And why is that?" Selena asked.
"I didn't grow up here, I grew up in Country D, after college I moved to Country D" Damien answered.
"Your whole family or just you?" Selena asked.
"Well there was no family to go with me, just me" Damien answered.
"What do you mean no family?" Selena asked again, his words were a bit confusing but she still tried to understand. It was clear that he didn't want to share, he didn't look like the type to share.
"Curious?" Damien asked as he pulled her down.
"Hey!!" Selena called as she tried to get up but Damien had already pulled her down, she was now strangling him on the couch.
Damien placed his hand around her waist as he pulled her down, he looked deep into hee eyes as his hands settled around her. So many thoughts going through his mind right now, he questioned his decision.
