CHAPTER 15 : DO WE NEED OR DESERVE A CT SCAN?
"Are you done daydreaming, Dr. Clumsy?" Suddenly Alexander asked and Eleanora was out of her past memories.
She took a moment to recollect herself before standing.
"Do you feel unwell?" She asked professionally.
"My head hurts a little." Alexander said before getting and sitting comfortably.
"Hmmm." Eleanora said before calling from the hospital telephone.
"We need to shift the patient for a CT scan." Eleanora said and ended the call.
"Alexander Laurent." Alexander repeated.
"Yes Mr. Laurent, I am aware." Eleanora said before walking back towards her bed.
'What kind of life is this? I can not even remove this mask from my face! How the hell am I going to sleep in this same room with him? And remember not to call him Alex again. This is not your past!' Eleanora thought frustratedly while staring at the city ahead from the hospital room.
"Why CT scan?" Alexander asked from behind.
"We need to see if there is still a mild haemorrhage in your brain. Also, if possible, try to remain calm-" Eleanora had turned to face Alexander and was answering him when she stopped midway.
"What happened?" Eleanora asked while touching her face, scared from the way Alexander was looking at her without blinking.
'She is still in her mask, her face barely visible, but she looks different.. in a good way.' Alexander had this sudden thought while watching her face in the dim room light.
"Mr. Laurent?" Eleanora asked, a little relaxed after knowing that the mask was still on her face.
"Nothing." Alexander said before looking down, pretending to search for something.
'What are you doing? Are you out of your mind? And if you are praising someone without even knowing how they look, there must be something severely wrong with your brain. You definitely need or no, more appropriately, you deserve a CT scan, Alexander Laurent.' Alexander thought to himself.
Thankfully Tyler along with the nurse arrived and no more explanation was required.
"Let's go." Alexander said before getting up.
"Shift him on a wheelchair. You should avoid walking." Eleanora said before walking towards the door while Alexander gave her one last look and agreed without arguing.
With that the group left the room, making their way towards the escalator. But the moment it was told to Eleanora that they would need to take the elevator, she stiffened.
"You guys go ahead, I have some minor work. I'll finish that before joining you." She said before turning around with a jerk.
But Alexander was a step ahead, holding her by her wrist.
"You are my attending Doctor." He said, his meaning clear, and his eyes once again menacing.
"I know and I'll immediately come down, you people go ahead." She explained politely, while trying to free her hand.
"Take me for the CT scan. Rest of you, stay." Alexander said coldly, making the sister look at Eleanora with fear.
'How dare you get rid of me and try to run away? I will make sure that you are not given even a moment in my absence.' Alexander thought.
"Dr. Rosenheim, elevator will-" The nurse tried to speak but Alexander just gave her a sharp glare and the nurse had to eat her remaining words.
"Mr. Laurent, I-" Eleanora was trying to explain when Alexander spoke again.
"Let's go." He said with narrowed eyes, gesturing to Tyler to take everyone else back with him.
With no option left, Eleanora took hold of the wheelchair, pushing it towards the elevator unwillingly.
'God please save me! I will repay my sins some other time, but please don't let anything happen in the elevator. Please god please!' She begged as they stepped inside the elevator, making her heart rate accelerate.
"Which floor, Dr. Rosenheim?" The man operating the elevator asked.
But Eleanora was already feeling dizzy, as her brain stopped braining. The closed space seemed to be getting even smaller with each passing minute, making it difficult to breathe.
'It's just five floors, Ellie! Come on, you can do it sweetie! And you are not alone. Everything will be alright. Take a deep breath, breathe out.' Eleanora was trying to pacify herself, repeating her psychologist's words.
"CT scan." Alexander answered after waiting for Eleanora to reply.
'Just you wait, Eleanora. You think I can't see how you are trying to run away? And now your tantrums for not letting you slip away. Just you wait and watch, I will make you pay for everything. Every. Single. Damn. Thing.' Alexander thought while lifting his head, looking at their reflection in the elevator.
"Eleanora." He called out, noticing she was scratching her neck, looking disoriented.
But she wasn't replying again, struggling to breath as her hold on the wheelchair tightened, afraid of losing her grip.
'Get yourself together Ellie.. you can.. you can do this.. you are not alone.. there are people.. we will arrive anytime now and would.. would leave this elevat-' Eleanora was trying her best but ultimately her brain clouded from the lack of oxygen, her grip on the wheelchair loosing.
She was about to fall down when Alexander stood up on his instincts, holding her by her shoulders while caging her against the elevator wall.
"Eleanora! Eleanora!" He called out while shaking her a little from shoulders, his body towering over hers.
"Dr. Rosenheim!" The elevator man called out, but Eleanora wasn't responding at all.
"Water." Alexander said but the man shook his head, indicating he wasn't having any water bottle.
"Eleanora!" Alexander called out again, shaking her even more, as she somehow managed to hold his shirt collar and pull it towards herself, trying to get a grip of something.
"Dr. Rosenheim is claustrophobic!" The man uttered, shocking Alexander as he turned to look at the man, Eleanora and the nurse's words repeating in his mind.
"Eleanora! Eleanora look at me! You are alright. I am here. Eleanora!" Alexander tried speaking, as he felt his heart in his throat, witnessing something like this for the first time.
Fortunately Eleanora opened her eyes a little, but her eyes were glazed, looking completely disoriented, as if she could hear Alexander's voice but his words were not reaching her brain.
"Eleanora." Alexander said, looking at her vulnerable watery eyes and did something out of his character.
