CHAPTER 18 : HAPPY REALISATION
"Warren, are you out of your mind? You should be taking her along with us. Not asking if she is lacking anything!" Clara was once again frustrated at this father-daughter duo.
"I know my daughter well. And more than that, I simply trust her decisions. Hence if she is saying that she is alright and will return home once done with her work, I can only ask if she has everything over here." Warren said before turning towards Eleanora who was already smiling with tears in her eyes.
"Dad! I love you the most!" Eleanora said, happy that at least her father understood her and was not making it difficult when Alexander was nearby.
"Take care and tell me if you need anything." Warren said before hugging her once again and taking a furious-disappointed Clara back with him.
Meanwhile Eleanora was relieved a little before returning back to Alexander's room.
A lot of people visited Alexander and Eleanora was more and more reminded of her past and all those people. But she remained professional, answering only when necessary.
*7 DAYS LATER*
It was hard to believe but Eleanora had actually survived 7 whole days without revealing her face even when she was practically breathing every minute with Alexander.
'7 more to go.' Eleanora thought as she was about to go to sleep.
Fortunately she was well aware of Alexander's normal schedule as well as habits. Hence she was careful enough to not disturb him and piss him off.
They had minimal conversations with each passing day and if they continued at this pace, Eleanora was sure that she and Alexander wouldn't be talking for the next week, which was also his last week in hospital.
Eleanora was about to remove her mask when there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Alexander said as Eleanora quickly rewore her mask.
"Boss, I have some information." Tyler said before looking at Eleanora.
"I will wait outside Mr. Laurent." Eleanora said before getting up from her bed, knowing Alexander preferred smart people who need not to be instructed frequently.
Alexander only nodded at her, his kind of thank you gesture.
Eleanora greeted Lance and Mason, another two very special people from Alexander's team who were keeping a watch on their door.
Eleanora strolled for sometime before calling her dad as she thought that Tyler and Alexander needed more time to discuss some serious business. Though within fifteen minutes, Tyler was out of the room and Eleanora had to end the call before entering the room.
She straightaway went towards her bed before lying down, turning to look at Alexander one time before she could remove her mask and cover herself up with a blanket completely.
Coincidentally Alexander was watching her as well, his face giving zero details about his thoughts.
"You dislike sleeping here?" Suddenly Alexander asked without any emotions in his voice.
"Happy realisation!" Eleanora said but immediately shut herself up as she saw Alexander's eyebrow raise.
"It's my duty to monitor you, Mr. Laurent." Eleanora re-framed her statement.
"I must appreciate your bravery!" Alexander said sarcastically, his cold aura retreating, to which Eleanora could only smile weakly, knowing she was powerless and needed to safely finish her duty in the upcoming week to get rid of Alexander permanently.
Ethan hadn't picked up her call since the day he had turned his back and left Eleanora in the corridor that day. And no matter how many texts Eleanora sent, it was all futile.
"Good night, Mr. Laurent." Eleanora said, ending the conversation there and turning her back towards Alexander.
For precautionary measures, she first covered herself up with a blanket before removing the mask.
"Good night, Doctor Clumsy." Alexander said before switching off the bedside lamp, the room turning dark as Eleanora exhaled a breath of relief.
Eleanora patiently waited till she could hear a rhythmic breathing from Alexander's side before putting her guards down and relaxing completely to sleep.
Because this was how she had managed to sleep for the past week without exposing her face.
She would cover herself up, which itself was enough as she knew that Alexander was gentlemanly enough to not pull a blanket off her body even if he needed something.
Secondly she would wait till the lights were gone and Alexander was asleep before she could finally get a few hours of sleep.
Eleanora was deep asleep when she heard Alexander's phone ring. Her guards were all up again, as she shifted a little in her bed.
"Alex, your phone-" she called out after the fifth ring, thinking Alexander was asleep, but the phone went off.
"Sleep babygirl, sleep." Alexander said in a slow but deep voice, giving Eleanora goosebumps all over her flesh.
Because this was how he used to address her in the past - Babygirl.
Eleanora tried not to overthink this as the relationship between the two of them was much more different here than what it was in the past. But the more she tried to erase that thought, the more disturbed she felt.
'How the hell did I call her that? Alexander Laurent! There's abso-fucking-lutely no way that you would call your doctor this dearly! She must have been traumatised by now.' Alexander thought, before closing his eyes.
'Sleep babygirl, sleep.' It was as if the words were being played on loop for Eleanora.
She was trying hard to fall asleep when she felt some movement and suddenly stiffened completely.
'Is Alexander awake? I definitely heard footsteps. Does that mean he is walking? Towards me? No no no god! Please save me! This can't be happen-' Eleanora was midway in her thoughts when her alerted hearing sensed something wrong.
She very slowly turned to the other side making, almost moving a centimetre at a time, to make sure that she made no noise and slowly slid the blanket down her face, knowing darkness was saving her from exposing her face.
By the time she could actually make out something in the dark, the scene shocked her.
"Alex!!" Eleanora shouted before jumping down her bed.
