CHAPTER 20 : BABYGIRL CHASING THE DEMON AWAY
Alexander immediately stood up from the bed, running hand through his hairs as tension was evident on his face.
'What's wrong with you Alex! You have seen dozens of women literally throwing themselves at you! This is not you!' Alexander thought frustratedly.
The room environment remained suffocating till the time Alexander composed himself. He asked other men to keep a strict watch on the hospital, as well as secretly send his men to protect Eleanora's family.
Next day onwards, Eleanora was back to wearing a mask and Alexander was more than relieved to not watch her bare face.
The interaction between both of them was awkward, but Eleanora didn't mind it as long as nothing extreme happened out of it.
Similarlly the assassination attempt was kept a secret so as to not frighten their families as well as alert the enemies.
*3 DAYS LATER*
"Your wounds have recovered as well as the injury to your brain is healed. If you want, you can be discharged tomorrow." Eleanora said, while closing the latest reports that were ran on Alexander.
"Trying to chase me away?" Alexander asked with a smirk.
"Definitely not, Mr. Laurent. I thought you might be missing your home-" Eleanora was speaking when their was a knock on the door.
"Child, shouldn't you be resting?" Irelyn entered along with Anastasia Laurent, his younger sister.
"Brother." Anastasia said before going and hugging Alexander who hugged her back affectionately.
"How's college?" Alexander asked, his tone a bit soft.
"Brother, I was busy auditioning for the second lead in Director Feng's upcoming drama, and didn't submit my assignment. Now the professor has failed me in two subjects! What should I do?" Anastasia said while sulking.
"Stop stressing your brother as soon as you are here. Didn't I tell you to ask Evander to solve this issue?" Irelyn lectured.
"Mum, you know how well me and Evander get along!" Anastasia said while rolling her eyes, her gaze finally landing on Eleanora.
"Let me guess - Dr. Rosenheim, right?" Anastasia asked with enthusiasm.
"Yes, Miss Laurent." Eleanora replied curtly.
She had no bad memories with only one person in the house - Anastasia Laurent. The only thing she hated was how Anastasia always defended her brother regardless of his behaviour.
Though Anastasia's company was the only good thing to remember from Laurent household.
"You can call me Anastasia. Also your eyes are so pretty! Which mascara do you use?" Anastasia asked, her tone genuine.
'Beautiful eyes though.' Suddenly something rang in Alexander's mind, before he looked focusedly at Eleanora.
"I don't use any cosmetics-" Eleanora was speaking when Alexander's voice interrupted her.
"Traffic teacher." He said slowly, his eyes taking in Eleanora's expressions which showed nothing but pure terror.
'No. He truly recognised me? This isn't going well. I thought I would ignore him for today and make sure he discharges soon. But he doesn't have to know anything more than that or else it would be impossible to avoid him-' Eleanora was thinking when Anastasia's voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
"You are a natural beauty!" Anastasia said, complementing Eleanora when she wasn't even in the state to accept that.
"Anastasia! Behave yourself. Shouldn't you be paying attention to your image?" Irelyn said, criticising Anastasia.
Irelyn, who had been from a middle class family, but fallen in love with her senior, and ended in this filthy rich family, emphasised a lot more on their image and the way they carried themselves.
She herself had faced her fair share of criticism when Alexander's grandma was alive. Hence she made sure that none of her children had to go through the same.
But unfortunately, Alexander was too stubborn for her to control, thought she loved him the most. But Evander was definitely her favourite child. He had never argued or gone against her.
Lastly as far as Anastasia was in question, she was a flower born between a family meant for thorns. Even her family knew that she was too naive and innocent for the world outside.
Luckily Alexander made sure that nothing was out of sorts for his dear little sister, starting from her top notch security to small things like her school homework. And no matter how much Irelyn disliked Anastasia's simple and friendly behaviour, she couldn't hate her daughter for the same.
"Look brother! This is how my life has been for the past week. Nobody takes my side. Please come home soon! I miss you." Anastasia said with a pout.
"He can be discharged today." Eleanora immediately spoke up, knowing this was her chance to escape this situation for once and all.
"Seriously?" Both Irelyn and Anastasia asked at the same time to which Eleanora gave a small nod, ignoring Alexander's intense gaze.
"Thank you so much Dr. Rosenhein!" Anastasia said cheerfully before both she and Irelyn started bombarding Alexander with instructions.
But Alexander only had eyes for Eleanora.
'Getting rid of me already? Go. Go as far away as you can. Because if I find you for the third time, babygirl, you will never run away again.' Alexander thought, remembering the first time he had collided into her scooty and then the second time when her heels gave away and she bumped into him, a subtle smile morphed onto his face, which was equally quick to disappear.
Within one hour, Irelyn had everything wrapped up and Evander arrived to pick up his brother.
"How's the Daniel partnership deal going?" Alexander asked after man-hugging Evander.
"We are doing-" Evander was briefing when Irelyn scolded both of them.
"No more business now! Both of you will shut up for the entire trip back home. Pin drop silence. Is that clear?" Irelyn said, nagging her boys like they were still 5 years olds.
Both of them looked at each other, before looking back at her.
"Is that clear?" Irelyn asked again, to which she received only silence in return.
Alexander, Evander and Anastasia looked at each other before all three of them burst out laughing, making Irelyn make an angry face before she smiled at her kids with affection.
"Let's go." She said to them as they started leaving the VIP room.
"Goodbye Eleanora." Alexander said, but something about the way he called her name gave her butterflies instead of the usual scary goosebumps.
"Take care Mr. Laurent." Eleanora managed to speak after composing herself.
