CHAPTER 1 : THE REBIRTH
'Why am I still alive?' Was the first thought that came to Eleanora's mind as she opened her eyes, unable to believe that she even failed in a simple task like taking her own life.
'No way! This is definitely not happening, right? Or maybe this is the afterlife? Because after all those efforts, I had barely managed to run away from him, avoid his strong security, and kill myself-'
"HONKK!" A loud horn sounded from behind, pulling her out of her chain of confusing thoughts.
She looked around only to realise that she was supposedly riding a scooty in the middle of some heavy traffic road and the signal ahead blinked green, showing she was supposed to go ahead and not block the road behind.
"HONKKKK HONKKKKK!"
The person behind seemed so much in a haste that Eleanora had no option but to start her scooty and drive ahead, not wanting to listen to that damned horn once again.
'But how come I am alive? And what the hell am I doing with this scooty? I don't even remember the last time I rode-'
"SCREECH!!"
Before she could register anything, a speeding black vehicle crashed into her scooty from the right side, sending her skidding away for what looked like a distance of almost 20 metres, no less.
'Knee fracture for sure.' Was the first thought that came to her mind as she opened her eyes again, finding herself beneath the heavy body of that blue scooty.
Luckily she had her helmet on, making it a lot less worse than what it could have been with a head injury instead of knee.
"Are you blind? Can't you f@#king see the signal!!" Eleanora tried lifting the scooty off her body while listening to the sound of car door opening and closing, as footsteps approached her, not wanting to look at the person who failed in killing her but left her with an upcoming month of bed rest.
She looked at her bleeding left arm, knowing it would need quite some time to dress the wound properly.
But what worried her most was her left knee i.e left fractured knee, which was still stuck under the scooty and no matter how much she tried to release it, all her efforts went in vain.
'Guess this time it is even worse than the last time it was fractured.' Eleanora remembered one of those times when she used to pull such stunts just to gain her own freedom.
"Did you say - Blind?" A cold, arrogant, murderous voice said, giving her chills down her spine.
And at that moment, Eleanora was scared for her life. Because even if you were to kill her a thousand times, she could never forget how Alexander Laurent sounded when he was pissed.
It took her a whole lot of courage to lift her head and meet those eyes which had haunted her even till the moment of her death.
'Alexander Laurent? I am doomed! Not only did I fail in taking my life but also miserably was found or more appropriately injured severely by Alex. I-'
"Nobody has ever needed me to repeat my question. Do you want to be the first?" There was this sharpness to his voice that cut the oxygen out of her lungs.
She observed her surroundings, the entire area filled with his men in black suits, terrorising everyone with their guns.
'This feels familiar-' she felt that her head was about to explode from all the events from today when something struck her.
'Isn't this how we met for the first time? He had crashed into my scooty, and saw me for the first time, as he fell in 'love-at-first-sight' with me - in his words! But why is this happening again?' Eleanora's mind was already working at its fastest speed when a doubt hit her hard.
'Is it related to me killing myself? Does this mean I am reborned on that unfateful day where this man turned my life upside down?' Even she felt stupid to imagine such a situation but the scooty accident from six years ago was too fresh in her mind to forget those details.
It was in moments like these when a person succumbed to superstitions. Plus every single thing was similar to the most minute detail, including the doctor apron and the dress she was wearing.
'If this truly is my rebirth, then I am not going to let him trample me down all over again. If God has given me a second chance, I will make sure to not cross paths with this beast ever!' By the time he gracefully bent in front of her, his black onyx eyes shouting murder, she had made up her mind.
"Answer me - helmet lady." His sarcasm and smile might have fooled others but she had enough experience to know from his low voice that he was already at his limits.
'Don't remove your helmet and mask. As long as he can't see your face, there will be no love at first sight for this lunatic!' She repeated in her mind before speaking.
"I am sorry for calling you blind. But according to the signal, you were supposed to wait till our lane was over. Still forgive me for shouting at you." Eleanora said in as calm a voice as possible, knowing how much Alexander hated being shouted at.
"A traffic teacher! Not bad." Alexander hoffed before pointing his gun at her, making Eleanora's heart explode from fear.
'Just kill me! I am better off without you and your creepy love-' Eleanora closed her eyes, knowing there was no person alive who was targeted this way but not killed by Alexander.
"Luckily I am in a good mood today. You get to live, traffic teacher!" He wiped his gun before keeping it in his pocket, getting up and walking away.
'Oh yes. Today was supposed to be his mother's birthday charity event. But unfortunately I had an accident with him and instead of attending that event, he forcefully took me back home and held me captive. All his family started hating me from today itself, calling me a gold digger, jinx and what not. But god I am saved!' Eleanora even had a small victorious smile on her face.
"Beautiful eyes though." Alexander didn't even stop in his tracks before walking straight ahead, scaring Eleanora to no end even when he was long gone.
