Chapter 2 - 2. Back to Normalcy

CHAPTER 2 : BACK TO NORMALCY

'Eyes that you will never see again. We live in two different worlds. Last time it was an unlucky coincidence for us to cross paths. But not this time. I will finally get to live the life I always dreamt but was denied. Goodbye Alexander Laurent, let's never cross paths again.' Eleanora made up her mind while watching him drive away, four other vehicles filled with his men following closely behind.

She sighed a breath of relief, before the excruciating pain from her knee brought her back to the present.

She searched her pocket, finding her old phone and finally managed to unlock it on the third attempt.

She dialled a number and waited for the person to pick up her call, afraid to listen to the voice after experiencing so much.

"Hey Ellie, already missing me?" A joyous male voice could be heard from the other side.

"Ethan-" Eleanora was still speaking in a shaky voice, finding it difficult to talk with him after all these years, when Ethan cut her off.

"Why are you calling me Ethan, love? Call me Eth as always." Ethan said in a sweet loving voice.

"Eth, I met with an accident." Eleanora had a voice break by the end of her statement.

"What? Where are you? Are you alright? Babe tell me what exactly happened. Did you-" Ethan was already in the midst of leaving when Ellie spoke up.

"A car crashed into me at the signal in front of our park. I am stuck beneath my scooty. There are no serious injuries, so you just reach here safely." Eleanora still tried to sound calm, not wanting any mishap with Ethan at least.

Ethan Blackwood, her childhood sweetheart-cum-fiance who had loved her to no end. Their grandparents had already set them up when they were born and since then they had been inseparable.

If Alexander Laurent was a devil reincarnate living in darkness then Ethan blackwood was the gentlest man to ever exist in her daylight life. He was so caring and loving towards her that she always felt guilty and overwhelmed.

This was also why she gave up on her dream of being an author and instead studied hard to be a doctor like Ethan and support him.

Even when someone as dangerous as Alexander Laurent had kept her captive, Ethan tried every single means to get her out of there, though it always ended up failing, hurting Ethan and her bearing with that lunatic again and again.

If possible, she never wanted to discuss what kind of things she was made to undergo for angering the beast, the trauma from Alexander ran deep inside her. The only thing she now wanted was to forget every single memory that he had carved inside her, and live the happy life she was snatched.

Eleanora was still thinking about her past when a white Mercedes Benz C class stopped behind her, pulling her out of her thoughts.

"Ellie!" Ethan exclaimed as soon as he stepped out of the car.

"Relax Eth-" Eleanora was still speaking when Ethan cut her off.

"You are so badly injured and how am I supposed to relax? How did this happen? Did you note the number plate of that vehicle? I will report him!" Ethan said while lifting the scooty of Eleanora's body, finally giving her some relief.

"No need to report. Let's just get back to the hospital." Eleanora said and shook her head when Ethan extended his hand, confusing him.

"My left knee is fractured." She said, explaining why she was refusing to get up like that.

"Don't move!" Ethan said while running back to his car, his heart beating like crazy.

He came back with a bandage but Eleanora looked at him questioningly.

"We would need some support Eth. A bandage would not be sufficient." Eleanora said before looking everywhere, searching for her options.

"Do you have your diary?" Eleanora asked, remembering Ethan always kept a diary with him for taking notes.

Ethan nodded while coming back with the diary and bending in front of Eleanora. He very gently lifted her knee slightly, placing the diary beneath her knee.

"Arghh!" Eleanora shouted from pain as Ethan was wrapping the bandage around for temporary support.

"Sorry for making you suffer." Ethan instantly apologised before slowing down more, gritting his teeth internally while watching Eleanora suffer all this.

"No, that's alright." Eleanora managed to say before her voice cracked again from pain.

Somehow Ethan managed to bandage it completely before lifting Eleanora and taking her back to his mercedes.

He made her sit comfortably in the back seat before parking her scooty on the roadside, calling another colleague to pick it up later on.

"I will make sure that the person suffers as much as you did. How dare they cause all this and run away-" Ethan was angry but still managed to speak calmly.

"You are doing no such thing. You should focus on my treatment and my recovery Eth. Just forget about this accident now!" Eleanora said, knowing no good thing would come from Ethan paying attention to the cause of this accident.

Ethan nodded speeding towards the hospital all the way.

"Oh my god! Dr. Eleanora, what happened to you?" The nurse asked as soon as Ethan entered while carrying Eleanora princess style.

"Just a minor accident." Eleanora tried to bring a smile to her face even when all she was feeling was pain.

It wasn't until Ethan secured the plast and tended to all her wounds himself before he spoke.

"We are not using that scooty again." He said calmly in a voice that said no negotiations.

Eleanora gave it a thought before nodding, partially because she had already lost her habit of riding scooty in the past six years and secondly she didn't want to keep anything which was related to Alexander ever so slightly, including today's accident.

"Good. Now tell me do you remember the number plate of that vehicle? Or at least that driver's face?" Ethan asked gently, hoping Eleanora would disclose something.
