CHAPTER 9 : THE FRUSTRATION
"I have an arm injury." Alexander replied in his ever-so-calm tone, scaring Eleanora even more.
"No issues, Mr. Laurent. Sister Olive will arrive soon. She can then help you with the shirt." Eleanora said, looking at the hospital shirt Alexander was wearing, completely different from what other patients would wear, the shirt fitting him more perfectly than necessary.
"Dr. Rosenheim, have we met before?" Alexander asked, finally asking the question which had been buzzing him from the moment he had caught Eleanora in his arms.
And Eleanora stood motionless in her place, her face going extremely pale while few beads of perspiration could be seen forming on her forehead. She gulped hard before opening and closing her mouth.
She felt as if her heart was in her throat, about to explode from fear. Alexander was never supposed to know her existence, or the outcomes were something she didn't even want to think about.
Alexander kept staring at her, his eyebrows knitting as his sight zeroed on Eleanora, taking in the fear in those eyes masked by the glasses as the rest of the world blurred out.
"I.. we.. didn't-" Eleanora was speaking when her phone rang.
"He.. hello." Eleanora stuttered, turning away from Alexander while listening to the other person on other side.
"Okay wait." Eleanora said before taking a deep breath and turning towards Alexander.
"Your men are stopping my team from entering this corridor. Ask them to let them in." Eleanora said as Alex nodded, his gaze fixated on her even when he was ordering his men and thankfully sister Olive and other nurse were quick to arrive, saving her from Alexander boring a hole in her body with that penetrating gaze.
"Dr. Rosenheim, I have brought the reports and dressing material." Sister Olive said, followed by another male nurse.
Eleanora immediately retracted her gaze from Alexander, receiving goosebumps all over her body.
"Help.. help Mr. Laurent change and tend to his wounds." Eleanora finally found her voice.
She took the reports from Olive's hand without meeting Alexander's eye, whose gaze was still fixated on her.
Nothing was out of the ordinary in the reports and if his wounds healed properly, Alexander could be discharged within two weeks from the hospital.
But Eleanora was definitely not staying for the next two weeks. She kept her eyesight on the reports while speaking.
"Your reports are good, Mr. Laurent. If you follow all the instructions properly, you can be discharged within fifteen days." Eleanora said, not looking at Alexander at all.
"We are done dressing the wounds." Olive said, to which Eleanora nodded still looking into the reports file.
"Good. We will take a leave now, Mr. Laurent. If possible, please stay inside the room itself. Your body is still weak from all the blood loss." Eleanora said before closing the file and turning towards the door, walking ahead while Olive and the male nurse followed behind, not glancing at Alexander at all.
She was almost at the door, almost when-
"Eleanora." Alexander called out, making Eleanora nearly faint from hearing her name in his voice.
She clenched her fist, her knuckles turning white from the force as all those memories from the past started flooding her brain. For a moment, she felt her heartbeat stopping.
"Don't forget the afternoon round. You still have to save this hospital, right?" He said without any emotions, but Eleanora could well taste the frustration in it, which was evident from the ways his eyes were saying 'inferior human'.
Even Alexander was unaware of his sudden frustration, but he just couldn't sit still with all those emotions in his mind. He was someone who could fire an entire team of experts to the slightest mistake.
But when it came to this girl, who he had heard from Tyler, was not interested in treating him, then left his mother crying while explaining some stupid complications and was now jerking off her responsibilities by not coming to check on him, he couldn't make it in himself to fire her or simply crush this entire hospital.
Not to mention the pinks and blues that had been pricking his eyes since the moment she entered, and yet here he was, being all nice to her.
But for Eleanora, it was entirely different. She thought about what she did to frustrate him? In fact, wasn't it the opposite way? She operated on him even when she didn't want to, she had a fight with her fiance because of him, was made to come to this hospital early morning at his service and now he was frustrated!
She turned back on her heels, fortunately not falling again and managed to walk straight towards Alexander.
"Sister Olive, you can go ahead. I need to talk with this patient." Eleanora said, while Sister Olive gave her a confused glance before retreating.
"Alexander Laurent." Alexander said.
"Huh?" Eleanora looked at him, puzzled.
"It's Mr. Laurent for you and not just patient." Alexander said again, his voice low but menacing.
"Do you think I am your servant who is here to follow your orders? If you do, then you are terribly mistaken. If you are so frustrated at my checkup then just go change your doctor, or maybe change the hospital itself! Why target me?! Just suspend me from this job. I am sure you are well capable of doing that.
And you know what? F@#k you and your damned team for everything since yesterday! I have suffered enough because of you people, especially you Alex and I am done with this shit. I am not treating or checking up on you ever again. Do whatever you want!" Eleanora was literally shouting by the end and walked away, her heels making the only clattering noise in the entire silent corridor.
Alexander watched her exit from his room, his mood changing for worse as he swept all the things on his bedside table, glasses falling and making loud clattering noises in the excessively silent room.
He dialled a number which was, fortunately, picked up on the very first ring by Tyler.
"Make sure that Eleanora is made to stay in my sight 24×7." He said before hanging up the call, lastly throwing the phone on the wall, the latter breaking into pieces.
"Dr. Rosenheim." Eleanora was furiously walking towards the stairs when someone called her from behind.
She turned around, only to notice Tyler, standing as gracefully as ever in his tuxedo suit, though the bandage on his hand made him look more docile.
"Yes." Eleanora replied, trying to not act rude as Tyler had never done anything against her.
If there was one person she never felt enraged at when staying with the Laruent's, it was Tyler, who didn't say mean statements, throw hurtful abuses or gestures her way. He was always there to clean up the mess she created.
But even that changed today after what Tyler said.
