Chapter 10 - Magic, Skills, Arts

Repeating his motion like earlier, he extended his right hand with an open palm. Then, he starts to imagine the mana in his body to turn into something like little fires.

Soon, Sidius can clearly imagine the countless red small wisp particles gathering in his right hand.

Once he felt that the fire element was enough, he immediately said "Fire Missile".

Suddenly, a ball like fire oozed out from his hand at a rapid speed. While simultaneously guiding the trajectory of the spell, it hits the illusion target with 69% accuracy.

'Not bad' he smiled in satisfactory, considering that this was his second attempt and it successfully casted.

"This magic spell casting is different from firing a rifle back on earth, but I will get the hang of it soon."

'I have enough mana for another magic spell, let me try it one more time.'

Like a child who discovered the wonders of an enchanting amusement park, Sidius eagerly embraced the exhilaration of successfully channeling his first magic spell.

Stretching out his right arm, he opened his palm and the raw essence of mana turned into red that surged within him, flowing into his waiting limb.

As the incantation 'Fire Missile' parted from his lips, a radiant ball of fiery energy materialized, soaring from his hand with breathtaking speed and finally finding its mark with an impressive 87% accuracy.

"Yes!" he exclaimed with unrestrained delight, the surge of triumph causing him to unconsciously punch the air.

However, while Sidius was celebrating, he suddenly remembered that there were some things he wanted to ask the system to clear his doubts.

"System, if in the future I decide to kill the Demon King but no one will ever know that I killed it, does that unlock the system function?"

[No. The user should have in his mind the mentality of a hero.]

"Why? Is it really that great to be a hero? It's not like I needed the system function anyway," he complained slightly.

[...]

"System, what do you mean by Awakened Skill like my Outburst?" he inquired in his mind. "I have never heard anything like that. I only heard Innate skill."

Throughout the days of Sidius being an information broker, One of the things he encountered was an Innate skill.

Innate skill was a skill granted by the system to chosens immediately after they awakened. Apparently, Innate skills are skills that they are destined to wield and can not be learned by others.

[Awakened Skills are skills that you acquire by yourself by fulfilling certain requirements. They are different from Innate Skills. Awakened skills, on the other hand, can improve and have huge possibilities. User will have to do more research regarding your awakened 'Outburst' skill.]

"So that's why it doesn't have a rank," Sidius nodded at the explanation.

Skills that chosens used as well as Mystical Arts have their own ranks. The higher the rank, of course, the better and powerful the effects. Skills and Mystical Arts that can be called S rank can mostly be found in wealthy families and powerful guilds.

Sidius was delighted to learn that Awakened Skills can grow. Meaning, if he train the skill, its rank will surely rise. In the future, he can have the ability to play in the big game just like those high players.

However, his delight faded when he remembered what happened the moment he used Outburst.

"The first time I used that skill, I can't remember any bit of it. All I remember was I was so close to harming my sister! I can't afford to research that skill. It was too dangerous!" he added, his eyes brimming with horror.

"I should only use it in a life and death situation," Sidius convinced himself.

[It is advisable for the User to be less cautious.]

"That's a foul System! Caution is what allowed me to survive to this day."

[That is not true. You died in your first life.]

"That was because I let my guard down!" Sidius argued. "Anyway, I don't want to talk about that. Can you give me a clue about the truth of this world?" he asked, totally changing the topic.

Sidius realized after his state of enlightenment that this world is not simple, and what he has learned is just the tip of the iceberg. There are mysterious powers lurking behind the shadows.

Just thinking about it made him shiver.

[You will unlock certain information once you have a breakthrough or encounter a fortuitous event yourself.]

"So I just need to become powerful, right?" Sidius said, smiling. "That's been my plan from the beginning anyway," he added.

Looking in front, Sidius saw the timer displaying 28:33, indicating that he had successfully cast the high-rank tier 1 magic spell in 31 minutes.

"I should be safe, right?" he murmured. "Learning the spell was easy, so I guess 31 minutes should be considered slow."

Yet, a sense of uncertainty lingered in his mind so he decided to stay and train a little longer since outsiders couldn't see the timer inside personal spaces.

After fifty minutes of training himself in his personal space, Sidius slowly stood up, feeling refreshed from delving deep into the theories and principles of magic spells.

"I think that I can create my own magic spell when I become strong enough," he said confidently before walking outside his personal space.

Some students were still desperately casting spells to gain additional points, which they could trade in the exchange hall for potions, skills, artifacts, and mystical arts. It provided them with the motivation to strive harder.

However, Sidius didn't pay much attention to them and he continued to his next class.

The next class would take place in the large hall next to the main training room.

The main training room was reserved for above A rank growth talent chosens' training and contain highly advanced tools, allowing the chosens to progress rapidly through the ranks.

In this world, the talented were favored while the less gifted were often overlooked.
