-1 Hour Later-
"We're going to hunt rabbits, she said."
"It's going to be easy, she said."
"Every goblin can do it, she said."
"Yet! What is this terrifying creature I see before me!? It's definitely not a rabbit. No, it does not bear any resemblance to a rabbit!!" I shouted internally while staring at the creature in front of me.
It had dark grey fur, no bunny ears, blood red eyes, and two long teeth extending from its mouth. It stood on its two muscular hind legs and had a scary look on its face. It was comparable to me in size, and its information well...
[Name: ????
Level: 6
Race: Swift Rabbit (Mutated)
Talents: Hardened Legs Lv 2, Swift Speed Lv 6]
Although knowing its a rabbit, but that definitely does not look like the swift rabbit I know. There's also the mutated text placed in brackets. Which should be the cause of its change, but...
(I'm 100 percent sure I can't kill this monster. So why did she have to leave me here all alone, why!!!)
-1 Hour Earlier-
After coming out of the village, Tskuta dragged me deep into the forest.
Along the way, I saw many creatures; most of them were around levels 2 and 3. Levels way higher than mine. We walked for almost 30 minutes straight before stopping at a meadow.
After stopping, Tskuta gestured to me to keep silent.
Seeing this, although confused, I still did as she told or, well, gestured.
I saw her crouch down, putting her ear against the ground.
After being in this position for almost 3 minutes, she finally moved and said while pointing towards a giant tree.
"Didn't you say you wanted me to teach you how to hunt?"
Listening to her, I nodded. (Of course, how else am I suppose to level up.)
"Then..." She looked at me with a wide smile on her face. "...let's hunt some rabbits."
Although slightly taken aback by her smile, I still nodded.
Her smile curled even more upward at my response. "You saw that tree I was pointing to earlier."
Hearing her, I looked towards the tree she was talking about and nodded.
"Great, you see, at the foot of that tree are a bunch of Swift Rabbits. Your objective this time is to injure at least one. I'm sure you can do that easy task, right?" She said with a relaxed tone.
Again, I nodded in response, but... (What does she mean by this time??)
This thought left me confused, but I quickly got over it when Tskuta spoke again.
"Don't worry, I'll be easy. Every goblin can do it."
"I'll be watching you, so go with a peace of mind." Looking at me, she patted my back before heading off and disappearing from my vision.
(Wait? Is it just me, or does something feel dead wrong about the situation.) Clearly confused at her departure or just disappearance, I slowly walk forward.
(Whatever, it's just a Swift Rabbit. Although they're super fast, I'm sure I can injure one if I stab at a...) Something caught my attention, making me realise a crucial thing I was currently missing.
(How can I injure one without a weapon!?? Although I can build a trap, who knows how long it will take, and the key ingredient in a trap is bait, which I also don't have.)
Although having all these thoughts, the movement of my feet never once stopped, unknowingly to me. I had reached my target.
Looking down at the foot of the tree, I saw a giant hole filled with all kinds of leaves. It was about 120 cm wide. From what I could see, it looked like an underground tunnel.
(Great, what must I do now.) I stared blankly at the incredibly huge hole in the ground.
Grrrrrrrr
(Oh, just because you know I'm near a rabbit's nest, now you want to grumble.)
Grrrrrrr
(Just stop; if by any miracle I do injure one, I'll feed you.)
Finally, as if my reasoning had worked, my stomach stopped grumbling.
"Sigh."
(I feel like I'm going to die with my stomach as the problem and the sun as the...)
(Wait, the sun!)
My eyes lit up with this thought.
(I can make a fire. With that, I can actually injure several Rabbits. What's more amazing is that the fire won't spread because there is actually no grass surrounding this hole.)
Gathering up my plan, I looked around me, scanning for appropriate items to make a fire, and as luck may have it, I found exactly what I was looking for.
Picking up two odd-looking stones, I smiled.
This world is pretty amazing, especially these stones. Back then, I had to rummage through at least 30 stones before finding the right one. And I'm glad I did. These stones are like flint; they're really easy to start a fire with.
Picking a leaf from the tree, I place it on the ground. Taking the stones back into my hands, I...
Clap
The rocks collided with one another, causing sparks to fly.
Clap
Clap
I consecutively smashed the rocks against each other until, finally, a spark flew towards the leaf, causing it to alight and start burning.
(Thank you, crafting talent.)
Looking at the burning leaf, I carefully pick it up, not wanting to accidentally make it go out.
Although this world's leaves burn, they also have a certain resistance to fire. So when handling them, I have to be very careful.
Walking towards the swift rabbit's nest, I let go of the burning leaf. Letting it fall into the nest.
As it touched the leaves in the tunnel, a spark of love appeared. And with it, it spread like wildfire. Every leaf started feeling my love as it turned red with shyness.
Seeing this, I nodded before backing up a few metres and watching the show.
(Now all I need to do is wait for the rabbits to start coming out.)
(And with that, my goal will be completed.)
A minute passed, and squealing could be heard coming from the nest.
(Guess they got caught. Although a little earlier than I expected.) I thought while holding my chin.
Black smoke was rising from the nest as the cries of despair increased.
[Killed Level 1 Swift Rabbit]
[Gained 5 Experience Points]
[Level up +1]
[Current Level 2 (10/20)]
Hearing this, I looked surprised, but it was quickly overtaken by an extremely addictive feeling. A feeling of ecstasy.
My whole body starts undergoing modifications. My muscles became stronger, my bones harder, and even my body lighter.
This was my very first experience, but it certainly won't be my last. My experience of levelling up...
But what I did not know was that what I did just now would eventually spell my doom. Or a second later, it will spell my doom!!
-A Second later-
"Roar!!!"
