9:01 AM
The next morning, after the sun had risen, and the night had faded away.
Everyone was going on about their usual business, but in front of a specific building, with his back leaning against the backrest, Mr. Knight was sitting on a bench, while his arms were resting on the top of the backrest.
Right now, his eyes were closed and his face was calm.
There wasn't a trace of emotions, nor a hint of a frown.
However, that wasn't the case for the people around him.
Most of the people around him were tense, and they kept throwing glances at him as they passed by.
There was a reason for this.
Mr. Knight was an S-Class Hero, and he was also a well-known figure among the people.
He was a person who had a lot of power, and the people didn't dare to get near him.
So, they all took glimpses at him, but none of them dared to get close.
Even if he seemed like he was sleeping, they still had a hard time approaching him.
They were scared, and they didn't want to make him angry.
If they did, they would be the ones who would get in trouble.
And, even though, Mr. Knight was surrounded by a lot of people, he was not bothered by their presence.
He was sitting on the bench, because he was waiting for someone.
"As punctual as always, huh," A familiar voice reached his ears and the hero slowly opened his eyes.
Standing in front of him was the Divine Maiden.
He had been waiting for her, and now she had finally arrived.
A faint smile spread across his lips, and he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.
"And you are late, as always," He said, and he stared at the person in front of him.
A pout formed on the woman's lips, and her eyes narrowed, "Hmph," She snorted and sat beside him.
"So," The Knight didn't move his gaze and kept on staring at the place where the Maiden was standing just a second ago.
"What is it that you want to discuss?" He completed his question and the woman rolled her eyes and glared at him.
"Cut the shit," She said, and her voice was laced with irritation.
"You already know why I called you," She added and then, she moved her gaze and stared at the grass in front of her.
Her face was still, and her lips were pursed.
For a moment, the two of them just sat there, not saying anything, not moving an inch.
"Shouldn't you be happy?" Mr. Knight spoke up and broke the silence.
"What?!" Divine Maiden snapped, and her eyes flared with anger.
"Happy?! How can I be happy?"
"I mean," The Knight, once again, leaned back and bent his head backward, staring at the clear sky above him.
"Since his wife is dead now," He explained, "Doesn't that mean you have a chance with him now?"
"Are you an idiot?" Divine Maiden hissed and turned to face him.
"Don't you know the reason he became a hero in the first place?" She questioned, and her brows knitted together.
The anger on her face was palpable, and her hands were balled into fists.
"His wife was his reason to live," She added and her gaze fell on the Knight who still had no change in his expression which made her even more furious.
"Just, forget about it," These words left her mouth as she jumped to her feet, "Maybe, I shouldn't have called you,"
Saying that she took a few steps forward and was just about to leave when the Knight's voice resounded behind her.
"I know," His words made her stop for a moment, and she, instinctively, turned her head a bit to the side.
Now, she was glancing over her shoulder and her ear was pointing in his direction.
"I know," He said again, and then he got up from his seat and walked over to her.
"That is why I came here to meet you. Because I believe that you must know something that can calm him down,"
"Huh?" The woman was dumbfounded, and she turned around, facing the Knight who was now standing a few inches away from her.
"Isn't that why you called me here?" He questioned, "So that I can help you with whatever that 'something' is?"
He finished and bore his eyes into the woman's own.
"Is it not?"
His question was simple, and yet, it held a lot of meaning.
For a second, the woman was at a loss for words.
"Yes," She said and rummaged through her purse.
Then, she took out her mobile and gave it to the Knight.
"Here,"
Mr. Knight took the phone and his brows furrowed when he saw the content displayed on its screen.
"This photo was taken before she died," Divine Maiden explained, and a bitter smile formed on her lips.
"And, with this, we can tell that she didn't die in a breakout, instead, she was killed by a human,"
Mr. Knight was shocked at the information he had just heard, but, his expression didn't falter, and he didn't show a hint of surprise.
"But, how can you be sure?" Mr. Knight inquired, and his gaze moved from the phone and landed on the woman's face.
"Because, I have personally investigated everything and have examined the whole restaurant where she died," She explained, and her gaze was filled with determination.
"And, based on my research, I have come to the conclusion that she was killed by this guy,"
She swiped her finger on the screen, causing the current image to fade and a new one to appear.
In this image, a man was shown and some descriptions and stats were also being displayed underneath it.
"This guy is a human," She said, and then, she took a step closer to the Knight, closing the gap between them.
"The one who defeated the boss monster and I believe that this photo was also taken by him," She added, and then, her eyes moved from the phone and locked with the Knight's.
"What I want you to do is," She paused for a moment and stared deep into his eyes.
"Make him spill the beans,"
"And," She continued, "If you find anything suspicious, kill him at the spot."
