Chapter 29 - Shy Waifu's Reactions

An hour have passed after the Divine Maiden and Mr. Knight were having a serious discussion, and Nellas, the person in question, was having his breakfast with his wife.

Ember was sitting on the left side of the table.

Her head was tilted downward and her one of her hands was tightly gripping the fingers of her other hand.

Her knees were pressed against each other, while, both of her feet were placed far apart from one another.

A faint yet rosy blush was visible on her cheeks and the tips of her ears were red, making her creamy white complexion to appear even more attractive.

This was a posture of nervousness and embarrassment.

[Host, why are you so nervous?]

A window popped up in front of her, causing her eyes to squint with its sudden appearance.

'I... I am not,'

She denied it and quickly pushed the window away, fearing that her husband might see it.

'I'm not nervous,'

She was not being honest.

She was in fact very nervous and her heart was pounding in her chest.

[Are you embarrassed about what happened last night?]

The system's question made her flush red and her grip on her fingers tightened.

"Yes, yes, yes, I am,"

Ember answered, and the words that left her mouth were barely a whisper.

"It was my first time, so, I'm embarrassed, okay?"

She didn't want to say the words, but, somehow, her mind couldn't keep her mouth shut and the words came out in a low, hushed voice.

[Hmm, that is strange. I have never seen any host getting embarrassed over kissing his/her spouse. You are the first one to get over your head when all that happened was just a 1.53-second lip contact and nothing else.]

The system words hit her like a ton of bricks and her face turned into an even darker shade of red.

Last night, she wanted to thank her husband for giving her the happiest day of her life.

So, she gave him a kiss on his lips, and, because it was her first time, she thought that if their lips met for more than a second, it could be called a real 'kiss'.

However, now, the system's words had made it like it was nothing and that, her actions were not worthy of what Nellas had given her.

"I-" She was gonna ask or say something when the sound of footsteps reached her ears and she immediately closed the system's window and acted as if nothing had happened.

"Sorry, for the wait,"

Nellas' voice sounded and a moment later, the screeching of the chair's leg reached her ears, telling her that her husband had finally taken his seat.

"I-it's okay," She stuttered, and the next moment, the warm, rough fingers of her husband gently brushed her hand, calming her down.

"Say, "Ahh,""

As the gentle voice of her husband echoed in her ears, her face turned red once again, and she was about to turn her head in the opposite direction when the doorbell rang.

"Huh, someone is here?"

Nellas muttered, and his voice was mixed with confusion.

"Stay here, I'll go check," He said and his fingers slipped away from hers, and then, her hand felt a cold breeze.

"Oh, okay," She replied and her husband was about to stand up when the doorbell rang again.

"Hmm, I wonder who is so impatient," Nellas grumbled and then, he stood up and walked over to the door.

Meanwhile, Ember, who was sitting at the dining table, was still thinking about the previous events.

She was disappointed with her actions and ashamed of her naive thinking.

'I thought I had done a good job, but, I was wrong,'

Her head fell, and her hair covered her face, hiding her red cheeks.

'I am not capable enough,'

Her shoulders slumped, and her hands dropped on her lap.

'I am not worth it,'

In her heart, she knew that she wasn't fit to be the wife of such a great man.

'I don't deserve him. He is too good for me.'

The system's words had caused her to have negative thoughts, and now, she was beginning to have doubts about herself.

"Oh, Marine,"

Just as Ember was going through a dilemma, the name spoken by her husband immediately snapped her out of her daze.

'Marine?'

Subconsciously, her mind repeated the name.

'Who is that?' The question popped up in her mind, 'Why is Nell calling out a woman's name?'

A tinge of jealousy was felt in her heart and her lips curved downward.

'And, what is his relation with her?'

She didn't like the way he said the name.

It was as if, the person on the other side of the door was someone special to him, and that, her appearance was a pleasant surprise for him.

"Nell, there is an urgent matter and you are to go on a dungeon clearance mission right now."

Her ears caught the woman's words, and her lips pursed.

"A dungeon clearance mission? But, you know that I have already left the guild, right?"

"Well, yeah,"

There was a pause in the woman's voice which caused Ember's heart to pound in her chest.

"But, they have specially arranged this one for you,"

'Specially arranged?' Ember's brows furrowed at the words, and a sense of uneasiness crept up her back.

"I-I can't," She heard her husband's reply, and the tone in which he said those words told her that he was hesitant.

'Why?' Ember's head tilted slightly, and her eyes narrowed.

'Why is he refusing her offer?'

Her thoughts were filled with questions and confusion, but, on the other hand, her uneasiness had completely disappeared.

"What do you mean by 'can't'?" The woman's voice had become stern and her words were full of irritation.

"I know that you have already left the guild, but, someone, who is even higher than the guild master is forcing us to do this, so, please, cooperate,"

Just as the woman spoke her words and went quiet, a screen appeared in front of Ember.

[Host, make sure to hear what Host Nellas is about to say. You are gonna love it.]

The words were simple, and the tone in which they were written was quite normal.

But, even though, the system's words were like that, Ember still couldn't stop her heart from beating wildly.

"I can, but, I have to get my wife's permission too," Nellas said, and his words made Ember's breath hitch.

'Wife?'

A tinge of warmth spread across her body and her lips curved upward.

'He is talking about me, right?'

"Y-your wife?" Marine paused for a moment, and there was a hint of uncertainty in her voice, "You are married?"

Nellas was going to reply to the woman, when Ember, in a soft and melodic voice, interrupted him.

"Yes, he is,"

With a bright smile, Ember emerged from the kitchen, and, in a graceful manner, she walked over to the two people standing near the door.

"H-he is?" Marine was dumbfounded and her mouth was agape.

"Yes, he is," Ember repeated, and a smug smile formed on her lips.

"Isn't that right, darling," She said, and then, she grabbed her husband's arm and leaned her head on his shoulder.

Nellas was a bit confused as to why his shy wife was acting like that, but, nevertheless, he nodded his head, confirming that, yes, he was married.

Meanwhile, 'Am I doing it right, system?' Ember asked and a small window popped up.
