Chapter 221 - The Meeting

Anton walked into the room where Akira's father was, and when he entered, he saw her talking to Koji, who was now awake.

"I told you it was a terrible idea." Akira murmured, seeing her father in this state.

"It seems he has stayed as strong as the first time I met him." Anton said as he entered the room.

Since waking up in this world, he has encountered countless strong men, but it is an absolute pain when those same strong men die or perish amidst life's adversities.

When Anton saw his first father die, he could see that strong man fall. Everyone can imagine that their parents are invincible, but that's not how things work.

Everyone, including the strongest man in the world, will come to a point where they can fall, and it might be in the most humiliating way possible.

Especially in life-or-death situations like this.

"Thank you for taking care of my daughter; we owe you our lives." Koji said, trying to sit up a bit more.

But Akira stopped him, and then he turned to his daughter. "Now that I see that both of you have made a decision, do you know what will happen now?"

"I will create a truce using my authority as Archbishop; I believe all these unnecessary deaths for one man must stop now. The world is not holding up as strong as before; darkness is consuming us." Anton responded as he looked at the ring in his hand.

Anton was honest, so Koji nodded, knowing that moment was closer than ever.

"Even the order will come to a point of bending." Koji frowned because he did not see that coming.

That darkness is more present in this world means that the Light Association's control over it is weakening, and that was not pleasant to hear at all.

"That's possible, but the simplest humans will be idiots even in these moments of extinction." Anton said, understanding better the attitude of humans in these kinds of situations.

"And what are you going to do?"

Anton looked at Akira and said, "I have the skills of a ShadowBane, so I will fight until I believe I can go and where my skills will be truly needed."

That is Anton's duty in this world; he is here to eliminate dark entities.

"For now, I will meet with the Marquis to resolve things; we will establish an agreement and settle things with John through a duel. It's not like he has many options left, but I'm sure both will understand." Anton pointed out, acknowledging that the fight should be stopped through a duel.

Although the association had not taken a stance on this, he knew they needed to stop; the deaths they have been causing along the way stimulate people, and this makes dark entities more active.

If it weren't for the Light Association, the world would not be as peaceful, so this is owed to them as respect for the work they have been doing so far.

"I'll make some calls; I wish you a complete recovery, father-in-law." Anton bowed slightly and left the room.

Akira, who had been silent all this time, said, "Do you think his fight is his?"

"That doesn't matter; a true ShadowBane understands that it is an obligation they commit to in order to keep darkness at bay from human reality." Koji said, understanding a ShadowBane better than anyone.

Akira smiled slightly; she wanted to at least try to stand by Anton's side and see if she had some ability to do something now that they were without a hotel.

Truth be told, in a way, she finds it a little more acceptable to lose the hotel; only this way could her father rest.

If it weren't for Anton's help, Koji would have died.

She still remembered that moment when she thought about the possibility of losing her only family.

"Recover, father…"
