With a slight friction sound, Ray's shoes touched the floor as he easily entered the second floor. At the same time, Jarvis drove the armored vehicle away.
Just then, Jarvis's voice came through the Bluetooth earpiece, "Sir, two mobile signals are moving towards your location."
All it took was a window flip to get noticed.
The hearing of these zombies is damn sharp!
Ray cursed under his breath, quickly looked around, and found himself in the men's bathroom on the second floor. He immediately gripped the short knife in his hand, dashed into a stall, and hid.
"Hehe...hehe..."
"Ho ho..."
Seconds later!
Two zombies, twisting their bodies, slowly walked into the bathroom. They were two men in their thirties, dressed in vests and beach shorts, likely two homebodies shopping at the supermarket, and possibly even close friends.
Upon entering the bathroom and finding nothing, the zombies paused but didn't leave. Evidently, the sound of Ray's footsteps when he flipped down earlier made it difficult for them to leave right away.
"Now!"
With a sudden burst of movement from within the stall, Ray explosively rose, his right hand gripping the short knife in a reverse grip, and with a fierce swing of his arm, he plunged the knife deeply into the temple of the closest zombie.
A direct headshot, blood sprayed.
"Hehe...hehe..."
At this moment, the other zombie reacted, its expression suddenly ferocious, its bloodshot eyes glaring as it lunged at him.
Ray pulled out the short knife, stepped back to dodge the zombie's attack, and as the zombie prepared to pounce again, Ray's muscular right arm exploded with force.
The short knife accurately pierced the second zombie's right eye, the twenty-plus centimeter blade completely entering.
Another headshot!
The entire process took no more than two seconds, taking them by surprise with swift and precise movements, cleanly taking down the two zombies.
"Ding! Congratulations to the host, you have successfully killed a zombie, reward points +1"
"Ding! Congratulations to the host, you have successfully killed a zombie, reward points +1"
Hearing the two reward notification sounds in his mind and looking at the two zombies lying on the ground, Ray exhaled softly, a hint of excitement showing at the corner of his mouth.
"This mixed martial arts skill is really awesome. The feeling of perfectly controlling my own power is simply exhilarating!"
"But this place really stinks!"
It was only then that he noticed the stench in the bathroom. He frowned, put away the short knife, pinched his nose, and walked cautiously towards the exit. After making sure the entrance was safe, he left the bathroom.
"Hmm? The staircase is locked with an iron gate?"
When he left the bathroom and passed by a staircase, he noticed that the stairwells leading to the third and first floors were locked with an iron gate, and there was also an unlocked wooden door.
No wonder so many zombies were gathered on the first floor; they were blocked by the iron gate and couldn't come up.
But this also meant that he couldn't go up either!
However, it didn't matter to him. His main purpose here was just to find a place to rest for a bit. Since the zombies on the first floor couldn't come up, he had nothing to worry about.
Glancing at the zombies wandering aimlessly downstairs, Ray stepped lightly, moving away from the staircase.
Before long, he saw the area on the second floor that sold beds and blankets.
"There are beds and blankets, a place to rest for today, which is better than sleeping on the floor!"
But the prerequisite was to eliminate the remaining few zombies on the second floor and to find that survivor to see what the situation was.
He didn't want to be sleeping soundly at night only to be stabbed in the back by the survivor, dying a senseless death. That would be too unjust.
With his mind made up, Ray, while being cautious of his surroundings, quietly said, "Jarvis, locate the remaining five zombies for me!"
"Sir, there are five left. According to the signal source, there is one fifteen meters in front of you, two thirty meters to your left front, and two fifty meters to your right."
Jarvis's voice rang through the Bluetooth earpiece, detailing the exact locations of the remaining zombies.
Ray nodded, gripped the short knife in his hand, and tiptoed towards the closest zombie.
"Hehe...uh uh..."
This was a female zombie in her twenties, who, when Ray found her, was aimlessly wandering in front of a snack aisle.
Judging by her attire, she seemed to be an employee of the supermarket. Ray hid at the corner of the aisle, and when she wandered over, he suddenly stood up and plunged the twenty-plus centimeter short knife into her chin.
"Four left!"
After easily taking down this zombie, Ray slowly laid her on the ground, pulled the short knife out from her chin, wiped it on her body, and then turned his gaze towards another direction, where the zombies thirty meters from him previously were now less than twenty meters away, according to Jarvis's reminder, there were two.
Still crouching low, he tiptoed towards that direction.
"Digital and electronics area?"
Arriving there, he was surprised to see the counters around him displaying various digital and electronic devices. He had been thinking, after filling his stomach, he would look for digital products and smart devices that Jarvis could use. It seemed now he wouldn't have to go out of his way to find them.
"Let's clear out the zombies first!"
Ray diverted his attention and continued towards the two mobile signals now less than ten meters away from him.
"Hehe...hehe..."
After passing two counters displaying various digital products, a zombie appeared before him, a middle-aged zombie looking over forty, dressed in a suit, resembling the manager of this digital store.
Ray didn't rush to act but instead circled around him.
He needed to ascertain the location of the other zombie in the area before making a move; otherwise, the risk of an accident and alerting other zombies was too high.
But when he passed through a few more aisles and saw another zombie, he frowned.
"Two zombies?"
"There are three in total here? Did the other one wander over from a different area? But that area is in the opposite direction from here. To get here, it would have had to pass by me. How could I have not noticed? Wait a second..."
Ray suddenly realized he might have overlooked something!
