"Here it comes!!!"
In the rearview mirror, a zombie with a pale, blood-drained face frantically pounced on a car, breaking the glass within minutes and climbing in, turning the driver into their food.
However, some very decisive drivers, seeing their cars trapped and unable to move forward, immediately chose to abandon their vehicles and flee.
"Does it have to be this brutal!"
Ray's pupils contracted as he watched a woman being knocked down by a zombie, her stomach torn open and shredded into pieces, making his stomach churn.
But that wasn't the worst of it. Among the fleeing pedestrians, a little boy being held by his mother turned purple and mutated the next second. In his mother's disbelieving eyes, he bit into her neck, breaking her windpipe and spraying blood everywhere, making a helpless whimpering sound before falling to the ground.
Seconds later, she stood up again, turning into one of the zombie horde.
Moreover, there were elderly people with white hair who moved slowly. After mutating into zombies, their movements became surprisingly smooth, and their strength became no different from that of ordinary people!
Logically, people of such an age would have one foot in the grave already, walking with the aid of a cane, let alone having much strength left.
But this was different. After mutating into zombies, the weakness brought by old age disappeared completely!
Bang bang bang...
Suddenly, a series of gunshots rang out. Through the rearview mirror, Ray saw at the street corner behind them, a dozen officers holding guns, retreating while desperately resisting the approaching zombies.
"The numbers are too uneven, how could they possibly hold them off!"
Watching them retreat step by step, Ray shook his head.
Boom—
Suddenly, an officer pulled out a grenade and threw it into the crowd of zombies ahead. With a roaring sound, the grenade exploded among the zombies, blasting those within a five-meter radius into pieces.
However, this did not make the frenzied zombie horde retreat; instead, it made them even more crazed.
Thousands of zombies roared and ran wildly, coming over like a tide and directly engulfing the officer.
All of this happened too quickly, and it was only at this moment that the drivers stuck in traffic finally reacted.
"Zom...zombies!"
"Quick, run for it!"
In their panic, these drivers floored the accelerator and burst out haphazardly!
Some even disregarded the lives of pedestrians, rushing into the sidewalks beside the road, seeking a breakthrough from there.
Seeing this, other drivers followed suit, charging toward the sidewalks.
They forced the pedestrians fleeing for their lives to the side, slowing down their escape pace, and were quickly caught up by the zombies and knocked to the ground.
For a while, the already chaotic avenue became even more chaotic.
However, it wasn't entirely without benefits. As a result, the originally congested lanes became slightly less crowded.
Bang!!
Suddenly, a dark shadow hit Ray's car, followed by a cry for help.
"Save me! Please save me! Driving an armored vehicle, you must be an officer too! Please, let me in! I don't want to die!"
A young man with blond hair, a sleazy look, and tattoos on his arm saw Ray's car, which had been modified to appear secure like an armored vehicle, and instinctively thought he was an officer. Without hesitation, he rushed up, seeking refuge.
Damn, really got an eye for it, out of so many cars, he just had to pick mine!
Ray twitched his mouth, choosing to ignore it.
It wasn't that he was heartless and wouldn't save him; it's just that he was also in a precarious situation, barely able to save himself. How could he think of saving others??
The zombies were already too close. Once the car door was opened, it was unimaginable!
Moreover, he didn't know the person and didn't want to bring trouble upon himself, leaving a security risk. He certainly didn't want to follow the footsteps of other drivers, being torn into pieces and becoming food for those.
"Aaaaah!!!"
The tattooed young man, who was banging on the car door, pleading for Ray to let him in, saw that the armored car had no response. Just as he was about to seek help from other vehicles, he turned around only to be tackled to the ground by a few zombies. With blood spraying, the young man was unsurprisingly infected and turned into a zombie.
"Wooo..."
"Roar... Roar..."
"Hehe..."
As the roaring sounds approached, the zombie horde, twitching their limbs, surged over, engulfing Ray's armored vehicle.
But at that moment, something miraculous happened!
The zombies passing by Ray's vehicle didn't attack his car at all!
Instead, they moved past his vehicle and continued to charge forward, attacking the survivors.
"Hmm? System, what's happening?? How come they didn't notice me??"
Ray, who had already picked up the wrench in the car, ready to fight the zombies, was stunned by this scene and hurriedly asked the system.
"Host, the LV1 armored vehicle's windows are highly resistant to peeping and bulletproof, and they also have excellent sound insulation. Sounds below 150 decibels cannot penetrate through (normal speaking voice is 60~70 decibels)."
Hearing this, Ray could only say one thing.
"The armored vehicle rocks!"
Just then, the system's voice rang out again.
"Ding! LV1 armored vehicle has been fully modified!"
"Ding! Jarvis program has successfully connected!"
As the system notification sound ended, the small black box that had been attached to his smartphone suddenly turned into white light points and disappeared from his sight.
"Finally done!"
Ray's eyes showed joy, but he remained calm and did not immediately start the vehicle to leave. Instead, taking advantage of the zombies not noticing him yet, he whispered as quietly as possible to his phone: "Jarvis!"
The next second, the phone screen lit up, and a deep, gentlemanly voice responded.
"Sir, how may I assist you?"
"Not much different from the movies!"
Hearing the voice that was indistinguishable from the one in the movies, Ray was certain that this Jarvis was the same one he knew of and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Jarvis, find me a safe place!"
Right now, although he knew it was crucial to leave this place, there had to be a destination, and not just any, but a relatively safe one. Otherwise, it would be no different than a headless fly, or even, no different than seeking death.
Since the zombies currently couldn't notice him, he was safe for the moment and had enough time to plan his route.
"Very well, sir!"
Jarvis responded and immediately accessed the internet through the phone. In just one second, it found several safe places and displayed them on the phone for him.
"Sir, safe locations have been marked for your review, please check!"
