Mara's POV
The way he held me told me I was safe in his arms and I could trust him even though my insides were screaming that I should not do so.
This was how people were killed, but somehow I trusted him to keep me safe.
I didn't have a choice. If I wanted to feel alive again and feel like I could still have my powers then I had to go with him.
I still had my doubts on the man who had almost killed me the last time and had put me in prison. This time however, he wanted me to trust him.
"I won't hurt you, I promise," he said as I nodded, walking to the edge of the mountain before jumping off it while facing him.
The wind whooshed behind me while I stared at him smiling at me from the top of the mountain.
If he wanted me dead, then he had his wish. But if he wanted me alive, then he would save me.
Almost immediately, he jumped after me, releasing tentacles of shadows blacker than the night which rapped gently around me as it pulled me close to him.
He put his hands around my waist before setting us upright as we landed softly on the ground before he set me down.
That was an exhilarating experience. I was a mad woman for doing what I did.
Did I just jump off a balcony without any aid?
That had to be the dumbest thing to do.
Just then, he pointed into the brightly lit grasslands before us.
"Right before your eyes is the most dangerous place you can ever be in," he said. "Are you sure you still want to go there?"
I shrugged, "I don't see how that is more dangerous than any other place. Is that where you fought the bear?"
Saying those words had me laughing as I could not believe a dark lord such as himself was having trouble with a bear.
"I'll believe that you are telling the truth when I see this mystical bear you are talking about."
We both laughed hard before staring awkwardly at each other.
The only sounds we could hear was the sound of nature as the wind blew about us.
"We should head back," he said while staring at my lips as I agreed while holding his hands.
We walked to the town while having small talk over different things.
When we both returned to the castle, he escorted me to my room where I turned to thank him for the outing as he nodded.
"You're welcome," he said. "I do hope you liked the town."
"I loved it. I'd like to go back out there sometime."
And that sealed it. He agreed and a date was formed.
"I'll be heading in now," he waved to me before walking away as I closed the door and headed inside.
Thinking of the events that had happened, I couldn't help but smile.
There had not been a dull moment with him. I had gone through a lot and I had lived. I wanted to do it again.
When I laid in bed to sleep, I was happy the night had gone better than I had expected.

Klaus's POV
While sitting on the balcony, I caught myself smiling as I remembered the events that had happened.
She had been crazy enough to jump out of that balcony which had me smiling even harder.
What was she thinking? What if she had died while doing that dangerous stunt?
Now I had to think of what fun thing we would do next seeing as she loved the tour.
I shook my head. I was on a mission here, I didn't need to be sidetracked.
I had to reassure myself that I only did that to make her start to like me and nothing else.
I didn't need to show that it was because I genuinely wanted her to see what she had been missing in the outside world. That would be too weak.
She would even see me as a weakling. I did not want that to be how I was perceived.
I wondered if taking her to the grasslands was a great idea. It seemed like a very terrible idea.
It would be mostly me battling with the creatures there. If I did that while she was there she could get hurt.
One wrong move and she was dead.
Maybe bringing it up was overkill and I needed to turn down the idea until I found a better place to take her to.
I couldn't take her to another kingdom. I loved staying away from other kingdoms for a reason.
Just then, I thought of the possibility that taking her to Sam's clan would not be a bad idea.
A knock on my front door had me sighing as I got out of the tub, grabbed a towel and started for the door.
When I opened it I saw Gail standing there with a smile on his face.
"Don't you ever sleep?" I asked, leaving the door open as I walked back into the room.
"I do, but then I got word that you're here and I decided to come here to see how you're doing."
"I'm okay."
"I found that you had a wonderful time in town. And you took the supposed prisoner with you."
"Gail, not now."
He sensed that I didn't need any of his aggression and he stopped it.
"Where would you be going on your next outing so I would prepare for it and reschedule your meetings."
Suddenly I remembered I had meetings but I had been pushing it off because of the time I had been spending with her.
"Do we have any meeting for the day?" I asked, knowing we were in the new day already.
"You don't need to worry about anything. I can reschedule if you're still not ready for any meeting yet."
I accepted his offer before watching him leave.
