Klaus's POV
The next day, I walked to the stores in the town to get flowers which I found were nice. She was a girl, she would like roses I concluded before finding other dangerous flowers laying around.
Even when I knew they would be befitting her dark soul, I was ready to go with the one I was looking at.
If I got her a dangerous flower and she had a reaction to it, I doubted she would heal in time before she would be killed by the reaction.
I needed her alive and not dead.
When I was done, I started for the room and I prayed she would like the gifts I had also added to the flowers.
I had gotten chocolates and chicken from a restaurant. They made the best in the town and I loved the crafts they gave when a product was bought.
The minute I got to her door, I took in deep breaths as I was ready to get in and face the demon.
Somehow she was harder than any lord I had met.
"I'm coming in," I knocked on her door before getting in as I found her standing by the window with her hands behind her while she looked out of the window.
"I didn't say you could come in," she said, turning to me as her eyes widened with surprise. "What are you carrying?"
"Flowers," I said with a smile. "I got them for you."
"A bunch of them I see," she said but she didn't crack a smile. She was a hard woman to please.
"Yes. I was hoping you would like them."
She shrugged indifferently. "I don't care much for flowers."
This was progress. We had gone a few minutes without fighting each other. We were even having normal conversations and I wasn't losing my head while talking to her.
"And that one?" Her eyes darted to the chocolates in my hand.
"Chocolates, for you," I smiled, dropping them on the table.
She approached the bed slowly with the demeanor of a professor as she stared at the gifts like they were strange items.
This was my time to actually tell her what I wanted to say and hear what she would say to me.
"So back to my words. I'm here to apologize and tell you that I know I haven't been the best host but I'm trying my best here. I apologize for your loss of powers and for framing you for your sister's death. You might not have been the culprit but that is only because criminals aren't usually caught in the act."
That came out wrong as I caught myself and decided to change my words.
"What I meant to say is that I am sorry and I do hope you'll forgive me for what I've done to you."
This time my apologies sounded very sincere. There was no way she would reject me. I watched her pick up the flowers to sniff as her eyes started to well up.
Before I could ask her if she was okay, she tossed the flowers to my face which caught me off guard.
Now I was very confused because what was going on? I had not done anything wrong. Everything I had done had been according to the book. I had not gone beyond that. I had tried to be a very good king and I had done what was expected of me.
Instead what I got was not the reply I had been expecting. I had my flowers tossed in my face as she hissed and walked to stand at the window, her back faced against me.
I wanted to take the life from her. Push my hands on her temple so hard her face would explode with pressure. I even daydreamed about it while standing in the room.
Taking my breath slowly and trying to be careful with my actions, I walked out of the room and headed for my room where I grabbed my phone and called Sam. He was going to explain to me what the meaning of all of this was.
"Yello!" He yelled as I growled at him which had him laughing. "Did it work?"
"Meet me at the garden in five minutes," I snarled.
"I am halfway around town right now and…"
"Four minutes and fifty five seconds."
"I'm on my way."
I started for the garden as I stood at the door when I heard a whoosh before he appeared before me.
"What happened?" He asked, panting heavily as he was out of breath.
I looked at what he was wearing to find out he was wearing a bathrobe.
"What are you wearing?" I asked until I found his hair was still wet. "Were you bathing?"
"What do you think?" He growled, closing the robe to be tighter as he looked around.
"Walk with me," I said to him as I led him to the garden where we stayed and looked at the horses grazing in the valley below. "I tried twice, she rejected me."
"Well that's not right. You must have done something wrong."
I gave him a glare which showed that if he said anything other than what was needed I would have his head for it.
"I even got her flowers, I got hee chocolates. I got her food. Everything. What did I do wrong? I'm trying here and what do I get, I get rejected twice and she tossed my flowers to my face."
"Oh that's the classic get out anger," he said as I shrugged.
"I'll just kill her," I started for the castle as he ran to keep me from doing anything harsh. "Get out of my way."
"Now, now. Let's not do anything too stupid or dangerous. Don't you think we should handle this with ease and finesse?"
"Finesse? She tossed my gifts in my face. I should be tearing her apart with everything in me. I should be beating the shit out of her."
