Chereads / Lord Klaus’ Fated Vampire Mate / Chapter 21 - Crossroads

Chapter 21 - Crossroads

Klaus's POV

The man laughed a bit before looking at the landscape before him.

I picked up a rock to toss into the valley as I watched it bounce around for a while before coming to a halt.

"Let's be calm about this," Sam said. "I think you can actually talk to her without coming off as aggressive. Try again. Please don't do what you want to."

"I gave in to your petty love demands and here we are. She wants to embarrass me. How about I do exactly what she wants and toss her to the curb? How about that? I could be aggressive too. I could show her what kind of beast I am. I tried being a lover but it's clear she doesn't want that. Instead she wants to be a fighter and that is what I shall do to her."

Sam looked at me for a while before looking into the field. He was trying his best to convince me to be nicer towards her but I just couldn't see myself doing that.

She had done the impossible by being a very big mistake to me. Even when all I had done was try to be nice she had tried to start a fight with me. I found that I was the problem. Being a romantic person was not going to give me the result I wanted.

It was clear she needed to spend more time in prison. That should teach her how things are done first before we start doing anything else.

"One more time," he said as I left him there to start for the castle to throw her out.

I had already given her multiple tries to redeem herself but it had not ended well for me. Now, I would leave her in a real silver cage with lots of guards torturing her. I think that should bring back her perspective of what was involved.

By the time I leave her in the cage for a few more months, and get her out, if I tell her to clean my toilet with her tongue, she would consider it an honor.

"Come on Klaus," he said as he rounded me and stopped in my way. "Let's talk this through."

"I already made up my mind man, now move out of my way or I'll move you out of my way and you won't like it."

I watched him spread his legs apart as his muscles tensed. He was willing to risk himself for her.

Well, if that was the case then so be it.

I drew my hand back and punched into him which had him blocking my punch with his hands but this only shot him back a few feet backwards.

I stepped forward to look at him as he stood up to stand his ground, standing before me which has me sighing before pointing to his bleeding arms.

"You keep this up and you'll be dead before we start anything," I noted.

Sam was a very stubborn warrior. He went with many names but I found Sam to be more appropriate.

Out of the vampires around that I had respect for, I liked him the best. He was not stronger than Gail but he was still as stubborn as the old man.

"Why do you say that?" He chuckled to his feet, his wounds healing as easily as they had been caused. "I thought you were a beast. Should you be apologetic?"

"Don't be stupid man," I sighed. "I don't want to hurt you. All I wanted was for her to accept me and that was it. For her to show up to me as a criminal and tell me that she didn't kill her sister, I tried to believe her."

"You threw her in prison even when she decided to come to you. That does not seem like a kingly thing to do."

He was right. "But I already apologized for it," I said.

"Not after your guards tore out her fangs and rendered her powerless."

He was right again."

I heaved a deep sigh as I looked at the skies, pulling my head back.

"Look, you're making up excuses for her being a criminal. It still doesn't justify her not accepting my apologies. What do you want me to do? Kill myself?"

"I expect you to give her time. You caught her as your prisoner. At least let her be free for a while. Let her walk about and warm into you. You don't expect a prisoner to be happy for being in prison."

"I gave her a wonderful room in my castle."

"But you won't let her out of the room."

"It's to make sure she knows her place."

He sighed, smacking his forehead.

"That's the thing with you klaus. You have so many rules and you don't even see it. She is a prisoner now. She just doesn't like it here. You sprung up marriage to her after all you've done to her and while she refused you tossed her in prison. I don't even know her but this isn't her fault. This is your fault for being too hasty on her.

"How about you still take it easy with her. She is a handful. I get it. But at least don't be too harsh on her. Being romantic once or twice isn't going to help. You need more days to show her you are not a threat. You need to keep on doing it over and over and over again. Tell her how you feel about her if you feel anything about her.

"Try to sympathize with her. For the sake of the heavens you accused her of murdering her own sister. No one would even like that. If you were the one in her shoes I'm pretty sure you would be tearing this kingdom upside down to get out."

I could see his point but I didn't like it. Why did he have to be right? Just why?
