Chereads / Lord Klaus’ Fated Vampire Mate / Chapter 27 - The Hunt

Chapter 27 - The Hunt

Klaus's POV

When she was done, I could only smile at her while she looked away with her cheeks turning red.

"You don't have to smile," she said, trying to appear aggressive to me. "We both have different reasons for why we get mad at people. I got mad at you for keeping me locked in this place as a prisoner."

She had a reason and I found her to be very interesting.

When she was done, I got to my feet and excused myself from the room as she nodded.

I could feel a spark within me from being close to her so it was better to leave her alone.

When I got to my room, I tried to shake it off that I was not in love with her but it was clearly a lie. I was already head over heels for her.

That day, I spent it sparring with the guards. It was nothing serious but me punching around a few guards as they were not giving me any challenge. When I was done with them, I headed into my room to watch a movie. I didn't even want to see her but stay away. If I saw her I knew I would feel a certain way towards her and I didn't want to feel that way towards her.

Sam called from my window which had me looking out to see him waving at me from the gate of the castle.

I wore my outing clothes and headed out with him to go where he wanted to go.

"Took you long enough," he smiled as I joined him in the car while he pushed a button as the convertible's top dropped down.

"You're in your hunting car," I said to him. "This is new. What are you here for? Are you here to gloat?"

"Gloat?" He laughed. "No, I'm not. I'm here to take you out of here. You have been in here too long, I can smell the stench of boredom and leadership weighing over your shoulders."

"Alright, bye," I said, turning to get back in the castle grounds as he got out of the car and rushed towards me.

"I need your help hunting bulls," he said, which intrigued me.

"Well isn't that something," I laughed. "You're a full fledged vampire who can take a punch from me, I'm sure you don't need help hunting bulls."

"Actually I do," he sighed. "The mystical wild bulls down the valley."

Now that was something I had not expected from him. The mystical wild bulls were a herd of bulls that were mystical and endowed with strength which could rival that of a vampire.

Only a few could fight against one bull and survive. Getting a bull like that was a sign that one was strong enough to lead their clan.

Sam was one of the sons of his own clans in my kingdom.

"I see you're ready to become a clan leader and take over your father," I said to him which had him shrugging.

I looked back at the car to see that it was filled with hunting gear in the backseat.

Impressed by that, I got into the car and sat in the driver seat.

"I'm driving," I said with a straight face. This journey would help me get my head out of the feelings I was having with Mara.

I was beginning to get involved with her too much. I needed space from her.

While driving towards the wild, I took a whiff of the air and smiled. I could remember my own time.

Ah, the thrill of the hunt in the untamed wilderness!

As a vampire with enhanced abilities, I could remember during my early days I had to get the bulls head for the kingdom to deem me as their king. It was one of those trials a king had to go through.

I had almost died due to a bull rushing into me and almost killing me, but I had twisted my body midair and punched the bull straight into the ground, decapitating its head.

This journey I was embarking on alongside Sam, ready to track and hunt the magnificent wildebeests that roamed the vast expanse before us was something that brought back memories.

A lot of people had lost their lives in this place and it wasn't for the weak.

"Look, I hope you're not going there to kill yourself," I said to the man who rubbed his palms in anticipation for the moment ahead.

"All you need to do is keep the head of the hull away from me and I'll be fine," he smiled. "I just need to kill anyone. Even if it is the smallest bull, I would be fine."

I shrugged. If that was what he wanted then I would spot him. I would make sure no harm came to him. After all, I still needed help with my relationship.

We got to the venue which was at the top of the cliff as we got down to see the beasts grazing in the distance below.

"That is going to be a very dangerous attempt to get a bull but we can still work it out," I smiled.

He worked out his weapons as we slid down the cliff and headed for a shrub to hide.

With our senses honed to perfection, we moved silently through the dense undergrowth, our footsteps barely making a sound. We didn't want to alert the beasts.

The air was alive with the scent of the wild, carrying hints of grass and earth, mingled with the musk of the wildebeests. This was going to be a very dangerous mission but I was sure in the end we would laugh about it.

Our hearts pounded with excitement as we followed their tracks, each step bringing us closer to our quarry.

As we ventured deeper into the wilderness, our bodies seemed to merge with the natural surroundings, becoming one with the rhythm of the wild.
