Klaus's POV
He struggled to get word out but I gripped tighter while his neck cracked under pressure.
"If you don't start talking, I might start cracking. Now who did this?"
It wasn't a threat. He was replaceable. I could get another guard to take over the cells in seconds.
He struggled to talk when I noticed the life leaving his eyes.
I hissed, letting go of my hand as he fell to the ground hacking a cough while struggling to breathe. His hands wrapped his neck in fear of almost losing it.
I turned to the woman lying in the middle of the prison. When I asked for her to be brought into this place for questioning, I didn't want her to be treated like this.
She could have died. Legends of her powers had grown far and wide and even my men testified that she was not an ordinary vampire. It wasn't like I expected her to be, but now I was unsure what she was.
Her fangs had been drawn out and she was powerless. If I found the guard who did this, I would crack their bones over and over again until they would plead for mercy.
The man behind me was still coughing and wheezing for breath which had me rolling my eyes. What was all the theatrics for?
"Get the guards," I muttered as he zipped out of the room with no second to waste. He didn't want to get on my bad side.
I walked to the cage she was lying in, noticing the cage was made of silver. A major weakness for vampires.
She also looked pale from my angle. Food had been hidden away from her.
A part of the wall let in a little sunlight during the day time which I was sure burned through her skin, unless she was impervious to that.
Soon enough, the sounds of approaching footsteps filled the hallways and the door had the guards saluting.
I turned to see the countless guards.
"Who was kept in charge of her security?" I asked with the men staring at each other. "If I have to ask again and I find any of you responsible for this mess I will rip you apart."
They all shivered. That was not a threat but a promise I was willing to keep. They had no idea what I was capable of even to the people who served me.
Six men stepped forward with their eyes facing the floor. I breathed easily. I would deal with them in my way. I had a lot of pent up energy and rage, I would love them for a practice run.
"You six were responsible for breaking off her fangs?" I asked again as they nodded. "Meet me in the practice hall. I'll meet you all there."
They nodded, moving to the side of the room.
"The rest of you, take her up and bring her into the palace," I ordered. "Make sure to clean up the guest room there. Tell the maids to clean her up and the dressers to make fresh clothes for her. I will be with her shortly."
They knew better than to disobey me so they bowed.
I pointed to the guards I was about to punish.
"How are the investigations for Layla's death going?"
They mumbled something unintelligible which I caught with my super hearing but ignored as it wasn't the answer I was looking for.
They were eager to punish the woman but not eager to do their jobs. Clearly they were in desperate need of someone to beat them into shape. That was why I was here. I would teach them to not be stupid again.
Pointing to other officials, I placed them in charge of the case and dismissed everyone to go about the mission I sent them on.
I entered the palace to meet an elder, asking for him to call a meeting with the rest of the elders as I had an important announcement to make.
He ran off to do what I wanted as I entered my room, changed into my sparring outfit and started for the hall.
I entered to see the men scattered around while staring at me in fear.
"Which one of you pulled her fangs?" I asked with one of them stepping forward. "Was that what I asked you to do? Pull her fangs?"
Before he could answer, I zipped into him and kneed him in the groin, grabbing a hold of his neck to toss him into the distance. He broke through the wall, sprawling out onto the streets.
The others shrunk away, begging for me to have mercy on them, but we were past that. They had done something unspeakable. They had gone out of their own leagues and did what their hearts desired.
I would teach them to obey orders.
"Come at me!" I yelled. "All of this begging and whatnot won't save you."
They refused and backed away slowly as I sighed. "I really wished you all wouldn't do that."
Zipping into them, I gave them the beating of a lifetime, making sure to break a few bones and remove a few vital organs to prove my superiority and my point to them. I was sure that after this day they would not try what they did again.
When I was done, I stood in the middle of the hall, looking at the wonderful mess I had created.
The men groaned in pain with their insides sprawled out. A mirror on the edge of the wall brought my reflection into full view as I looked into it to see my clothes were covered with blood.
A messenger interrupted my session with the guards with a message from the elders.
"The elders are gathered in the throne room, sire," he said, shuddering when he saw what I had done to the guards.
"I'll be right with them," I said, tearing a piece of clothing from a guard to clean my hand with.
