Klaus's PoV
He moved around me with a speed that any vampire would be jealous of and immediately bull rushed into me, punching me with so much force I felt the wind knock out of my system.
There were so many reasons I loved to spar with Gary. He was more than a teacher. He was a powerful friend and a warrior who in times of war would be able to handle battles like they were nothing.
I knocked him down with a single finger, kicking him away before he smacked his hand on the ground, standing up.
He zipped into me which I was prepared for as I readied my stance to punch him out of the ring.
He was fast enough to evade. Moving like a speeding bullet, he moved around me, grabbing a weapon from the floor which he tossed at me.
"Clever," I said. "But very weak."
He tried again and again but I evaded his attacks.
"I could kill you," I said almost out of breath.
The sound of our arms clashing into each other filled the hall, a symphony of strength and skill. The air crackled with energy as I pushed him to his limits, his supernatural abilities tested to its fullest potential.
I could see him gritting his teeth as I slowly ramped up my strength. It would take a while but in the end I would be able to match up to his strength and overthrow him.
I wanted to see how strong he could get. While doing all of this I had totally forgotten about Mara and her problems which had me smiling.
As the training session progressed, we tapped into our extensive knowledge of combat techniques.
I knew more about his fighting style than he knew of mine which gave me the edge as we traded blows and exchanged strategies.
We tried adapting and learning from the other as he wanted to be even more deadly by getting out a few weapons on the walls to use against me. The training hall became a real battlefield, our movements a testament to the power we both possessed.
With each passing moment, our bond as fellow vampires grew stronger.
He recognized that he was no match for me as I got stronger with each blow and soon enough I could easily take over the battle.
With a single smack in his chest, he was sent flying into the walls as I blurred into him to punch him but he was expecting me to do that.
He raised his hands for me to see he hadn't set off grenades to the entire halls.
"You sneaky bas…" but I couldn't finish it off as the entire hall exploded in a flurry of light and explosion which had me zipping around to avoid being blown to bits.
Something zipped by my side, slicing my arm as I looked to see he had used a sharp steel knife to slice through me.
If that was silver I would be in much pain. I had to be careful.
He was using the explosives to cover his movements and the smoke to mask his scent and my vision so I would not see him, but I was smarter than that.
As the training session drew to a close, I found a loophole in his entire training plan and decided to tear through his battle plans.
I whipped out my hand in the smoke, grabbing his neck as I tossed him to the ground, bringing him down with extreme force as the entire ground shattered apart.
This was not enough for he zipped away from my grip, his spirits brimming with newfound confidence.
He wasn't about to give in to me but I didn't care. I was happy that I was able to teach him a lesson based on how strong I was.
Just then, he zipped to the edge of the exploded hall and stood there bleeding.
"Had enough?" I smiled at the old man as I walked to meet him, for me to see a large knife stuck in his midsection. "You'll be fine."
I patted his back before walking out of the hall unscathed.
My guards started to put out the fire as I immediately thought about Mara.
"Fuck. I didn't do all of that just to think of her again. Come on. This isn't right."
For crying out loud, she had found me out to be her mate. This must have meant something to her. She has clearly killed her sister because she was jealous. There was no other way to go around this.
It was confusing to see how she could deny killing her sister. All she had to do was explain herself to me and I would understand.
All of this lies she was giving to me were not helping at all.
I would clearly be on her side if she would open up to me. We were mates. I hated being lied to. I wasn't a child anymore.
I even gave her the opportunity to be with me as my mate and she refused.
Who the fuck did she think she was?
If this was the route she was trying to take then so be it.
I would make sure she regretted her entire decision and I would cause her pain and so much misery.
And if she didn't kill Layla then who did? I shook my head. That was too much drama for an entire day.
I walked to a field and decided to go for a run.
I was going to do anything to clear my head from the pain I was feeling.
Moving like a blur, I zipped into the field, my feet digging into the ground as I moved as fast as I had done.
I would not let myself get carried away as I moved like the wind, increasing my speed with each passing moment, ready to move until no one would see me anymore.
I was too mad to think straight.
